In this paper I examine how translation is used as a feminist writing stratey in Nicole Brossard's novel "Mauve desert" (Le désert mauve). The paper uses the French-Canadian translator Susanne de Lotbinière-Harwood's theory of "translating in the feminine" - a feminist translation practice, to analyse the occurance of translation found in the novel.

Characterization of Bi-incorporated InSb(111)A/B Surfaces : An STM and XPS Study

In recent years, III-V semiconductor materials have received increasing attention due to their admirable electronic properties like direct tunable bandgaps and high charge carrier mobility. Indium Antimonide (InSb) possesses the largest electron mobility among III-V materials and is promising for infrared detectors, high-speed field effect transistors, and spintronics. Incorporation of bismuth (Bi

Photovoltaics from a business perspective past, present, and future in Germany

Solar energy plays a vital role in the transition to a greener global energy supply. As a decentralized energy source, the expansion of solar energy is not driven by energy suppliers and government as in traditional energy sources but is proliferating through the market through a variety of business propositions. Germany has, for a long time, been a pioneer in the field of solar. The country was t

Imperfect Convergence of Central and Eastern Europe 1992–2020. The impact of social capabilities and early reform strategies.

In the aftermath of significant geopolitical shifts in 1989, Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) underwent pivotal economic transitions from state-controlled systems to market-driven environments. This study focuses on the CEE countries from 1992 to 2020, dissecting the intricacies of their varied economic outcomes and their incomplete convergence. By separately testing social capabilities, namely tr

Utifrån kyrkans historiska och teologiska traditioner har jag gjort nya tonsättningar av de sjunga texter som ingår i mässordningen och instuderat dessa med kör och gudstWithin the frames of this thesis, I explore and describe my process and possibilities to increase the engagement and participation of both choir and congregation concerning the liturgical music within the service, in the congregation where I hold my employment as organist and choral conductor. As a method for this I have composed new music for the sections within the mass, all according to the the

We Need to Talk - Ethical and sustainable design of consumer electronics

This Master’s thesis explores ethics and sustainability in the design of consumer electronics. It begins with a theoretical review of sustainable design methods and ethical principles relevant to globalised value chains. Through an explorative design process, it culminates in proposed strategies for the design of sustainable electronics. Designers’ evolving roles, sustainability- oriented inno

Retirement Home in Krapina - Zagorje, Croatia

Population decline in rural areas is observed in almost every European country. In Croatia, there are no meaningful strategies to mitigate the consequences of depopulation. As a result, many rural communities have already disappeared, while more are becoming unsustainable. Krapina-Zagorje is a region severely impacted by the shrinking and aging of its population. This thesis approaches depopulatio

Reasoning Through the Application of Crystallized and Fluid Intelligence in a Causal Inference Task

The aim of the study was to find out how well individuals perform when solving hypothetical causally related problems, and further understand what intelligence factors interact with this. This was done via a survey that consisted of hypothetical, linear relation, causal scenarios. Two experiments were conducted to ensure that no validity issues confounded the results. Experiment 1 consisted of 77

The power of appearance : Self-expression through clothing behind bars

This paper investigates how the American contra Scandinavian prison system relate to prison clothing. Furthermore, it discusses the history of prison uniform and how prison uniform connects to identity. With the end goal of examining whether prison clothing contributes to the ever so nourished discourse, in which clothing is simply described as part of vanity. The research conducted is a direct re

The groundbreaking field of synthetic biology has immense potential to revolutionize our society by reducing our reliance on petroleum. With a growing demand for sustainable ingredients and molecules, companies like Amyris, who have successfully developed and commercialized this technology, are poised to reap significant rewards. I am privileged to work for a scientifically advanced organization t

Sundvik Kollektivhus

This situation has made it impossible for primarily young people, the elderly, or individuals facing social exclusion to acquire their own homes. At the same time, the country

Geographic polarization and clustering of partisan voting: A local-level analysis of Stockholm Municipality

Båda händelserna kännetecknades av ett minskat förtroende för media, politiska institutioner och mellan väljare av motsatta politiskaIn the last decade, the topic of political polarization has become a growing concern within academic and public debate. Many highlight the linkage between increased political polarization and democratic problems such as political tribalism and uncivil activism. It is also argued to be a global phenomenon. Despite this, research on political polarization - and its outcome in space (i.e. geographic

Reduce, Reuse, Reshape - Evaluating EU Policies on plastic for sustainable transition of plastic packaging system to align with the 3Rs

The global surge in plastic production, particularly single-use packaging, has triggered pressing environmental and health concerns. Addressing this crisis necessitates transformative shifts within the plastic packaging system, prioritizing the reduction, reuse, and recycling of plastic packaging. The European Union (EU) has initiated a Plastic Strategy to combat the plastic issue. This study eval

Applying LPJ-GUESS on the Arctic: A model evaluation and benchmarking study

Warming in the Arctic occurs at a much higher rate than the global average, which has a considerable impact on the Arctic terrestrial carbon cycle. Permafrost thawing can release substantial amounts of carbon, whilst tundra shrubification and tree-line advance, on the other hand, may compensate for this. To gain a better understanding of the Arctic carbon cycle in the future, global dynamic vegeta

A new era for water governance? An analysis on water and climate discourse after the 2018 drought in Sweden

Uppsatsen utforskar torkans effekter på vattenpolicy och hur aktörer i södra SveriAccess to water is taken for granted in water abundant countries like Sweden, but safe water supply is increasingly threatened by droughts. This thesis analyses how the Swedish water sector responded to the unprecedented drought in 2018, by analysing water security discourse through the framework “What’s the problem represented to be?”. It explores implications of the drought on water policy and h

Tree Species Impact on Forest Fire Spread Susceptibility in Sweden

In Sweden, where homogenous production forest makes up the majority of the landscape, there is a need for better understanding of forest fire susceptibility in order to mitigate risk. In the context of this thesis forest fire susceptibility is the likelihood of forest burning after ignition and initial fire propag

Ecomodern masculinity? An intersectional feminist analysis of barriers for participation in Renewable Energy Communities

Renewable Energy Communities (REC) are seen as a way to promote energy justice and security and advance a democratic, socially-just energy transition. However, energy justice scholarship indicates that some social groups are not included in RECs. I conducted four semi-structured interviews with urban RECs in Germany to find out which communities are underrepresented and why. The feminist energy ju
