The present contribution describes some simulations of the observation of binaries with GAIA. The results do not differ fundamentally from earlier estimates, e.g. in GAIA's Concepts and Technology Study Report (ESA-2000-SCI-4), but they are based on more realistic assumptions and much more extensive numerical work.

A silent CMOS circuit architecture is proposed. Different silent CMOS gate solutions are presented and compared to the normal CMOS precharged gate in switching noise level. A silent 16-bit parallel carry-look-ahead adder is demonstrated. Simulation results on the circuits and the post layout of the adder are given, which shows a 10 times reduction in noise level is possible

Wearer trials with human subjects were included in the Subzero project in order to validate the manikins' data against practice. Physiological tests of the project were aimed to study hu-man subjects at thermal comfort or being slightly warm in cold: 0, -10, -25 and wind-chill temperature –50 ºC.
