The aim of this study was to investigate torso cooling benefit of various PCM vests in a simulated warm environment (Ta= 34 °C, RH=56 %, Va=0.4 m/s). A pre-wetted cotton torso fabric skin was used to simulate sweating on a thermal manikin (Tmanikin=34 °C). Six conditions were tested: nude fabric skin (Fabric Skin), Vest A without (VA) and with frozen gels with a melting temperature (Tm) of 0 °C (V

This paper gives a perspective on the development of process control from the early development and the emergence of the automation industry to today's computer-controlled systems. Some speculations on future developments are also given.
A two-stage mm-wave power amplifier (PA) is presented. Designed in a 65 nm CMOS process, the PA employs capacitive neutralization in each stage for increased differential isolation and gain. Baluns are used for single-ended input/output signal to balanced signal conversion, and the interstage matching consists of a 2:1 transformer. With a 1.2 V supply, at 67 GHz, measurements show a gain of 16.8 d
The predictable degree property was introduced by Forney (1970) for polynomial convolutional encoding matrices. In this paper two generalizations to rational convolutional encoding matrices are discussed
This paper presents a scheme to construct distributed observers for a system consisting of agents interconnected in a graph structure. The scheme is an iterative procedure to improve the observers with respect to global performance. It is modular in the sense that each agent iterates using only local model information. As a consequence, the complexity of the scheme scales linearly with the size of
