EVALUATION OF HEAVY METALS (Cu, Zn, Pb) UPTAKE IN CARROT AND ASSOCIATED HEALTH RISK

The escalating levels of heavy metals in soil, attributed to diverse sources, pose a pressing concern for human and animal health through their entry into the food chain. This study aimed to evaluate the uptake behavior of Cu, Zn, and Pb in carrots grown in different levels of contaminated soil (control, 30, 60, 90, 120 ppm) and to assess the associated health risks to mitigate the enrichment of h

pyISC: A Bayesian Anomaly Detection Framework for Python

The pyISC is a Python API and extension to the C++ based Incremental Stream Clustering (ISC) anomaly detection and classification framework. The framework is based on parametric Bayesian statistical inference using the Bayesian Principal Anomaly (BPA), which enables to combine the output from several probability distributions. pyISC is designed to be easy to use and integrated with other Python li

Using machine learning hardware to solve linear partial differential equations with finite difference methods

This study explores the potential of utilizing hardware built for Machine Learning (ML) tasks as a platform for solving linear Partial Differential Equations via numerical methods. We examine the feasibility, benefits, and obstacles associated with this approach. Given an Initial Boundary Value Problem (IBVP) and a finite difference method, we directly compute stencil coefficients and assign them

Gamifying user feedback collection on static program analysis tools

Use of static program analysis tools can be highly beneficial in software development, but usage is hindered by usability issues. One method to better understand these issues is to gather user feedback, but it is challenging to get developers to invest effort in giving user feedback. In this paper, we investigate whether gamification can increase user engagement in feedback collection on static ana

Introducing Religious Deconstruction : Critical Conversations about Religion in a Swedish Podcast

In the past few years, a new networked public has emerged in Sweden, bringingtogether individuals from a conservative Christian background who have left faith and/ or religious communities. Podcasts on religious deconstruction have played a crucial role in the formation of this network. This study is the first to explore the emerging phenomenon of religious deconstruction podcasts in Sweden. SpeciIn the past few years, a new networked public has emerged in Sweden, bringing together individuals from a conservative Christian background who have left faith and/or religious communities. Promoting China's Development Model for the Hambantota International Port : Selling Shekou to Sri Lanka

This article examines the narratives associated with the “Shekou Model” in China’s development of the Hambantota International Port in Sri Lanka. Through a dual narrative analysis and policy evaluation approach utilizing official Chinese and Sri Lankan statements, it examines the motivations of the Chinese Communist Party and the China Merchants Group in “selling” the Shekou Model and how Sri Lank

Just pathways to sustainability : From environmental human rights defenders to biosphere defenders

People form part of the biosphere - the biosphere being the whole intertwined network of life on Earth. While there is convergence on the need for societal change for just sustainability and a healthy biosphere, the pathways to achieve these transformations remain relatively unclear. Through legal interpretation, conceptual and thematic analysis of academic and grey literature, we seek to answer t

We-intentions and immunity to error through misidentification

When I intend to J, I may be wrong about what I intend but not about who intendsit. In this sense, action intentions appear immune to error. A standard explanationof this immunity is that the subject of the intention is not represented in the contentof the intention in the first place. When I think that we intend to J, it seems obviousthat I can misjudge who ‘we’ are. This may seem to indicate tha

Audio Papers - a manifesto

With this special issue of Seismograf we are happy to present a new format of articles: Audio Papers.Audio papers resemble the regular essay or the academic text in that they deal with a certain topic of interest, but presented in the form of an audio production. The audio paper is an extension of the written paper through its specific use of media, a sonic awareness of aesthetics and materiality,

Analysis of partially reflective surface antenna with different reflection magnitudes using ray-tracing

It has been shown that a partially reflective surface (PRS) antenna with a larger reflection magnitude has a higher antenna gain, based on practical design examples. In this paper, PRS antennas with different reflection magnitudes are analyzed using an intuitive ray-tracing model. It is derived that the larger reflection magnitude enables a smaller phase delay and a more uniform magnitude distribu

Non-negative Spherical Relaxations for Universe-Free Multi-matching and Clustering

We propose a novel non-negative spherical relaxation for optimization problems over binary matrices with injectivity constraints, which in particular has applications in multi-matching and clustering. We relax respective binary matrix constraints to the (high-dimensional) non-negative sphere. To optimize our relaxed problem, we use a conditional power iteration method to iteratively improve the ob

Ethical V2X: Cooperative Driving as the Only Ethical Path to Multi-Vehicle Safety

We argue that an information exchange between vehicles via the vehicular communications is the foundation for ethical driving. In other words – autonomous vehicles must be cooperative to be able to resolve ethical dilemmas in a multi-vehicle scenario. We show this by exploring the minimal setting of a longitudinal driving in a formation of three vehicles.

Effect of coplanar waveguide feedline on car roof-glass integrated GNSS antenna performance

An extension of the feedline is often needed when an antenna is integrated with the roof glass of a car. How much the extension affects the antenna performance depends on the type of antenna and feedline used. This paper studies the effects of coplanar waveguide feedline extension on the performance of a circularly-polarized square slot antenna. Simulation results show a general decrease in the an
