Reconfigurable quantum-optical circuits in a complex medium
Programmable optical circuits form a key part of quantum technologies today. As the size of such circuits is increased, maintaining precise control over every individual component becomes challenging. Here we show how embedding an optical circuit in the higher-dimensional space of a large mode-mixer allows us to forgo control over individual elements, while retaining a high degree of programmabili
Going Beyond the Tropes of ‘Friendship’ and ‘Modernization’ : Internal Colonialism in Siam and Scandinavia in the Age of Empire
This article contributes to a reconceptualization of the relationship between Siam and Scandinavia at the turn of the twentieth century. At that time, the relationship was manifested by the presence of a large group of Scandinavian, mainly Danish, entrepreneurs and professionals in Siam and repeated visits between the royal houses in Siam and the Scandinavian countries. The tropes of friendship an

In this article I discuss Lacans reading of Plato, especially in the middle seminars. I discuss how to evaluate Lacans understanding of Plato as a philosopher and how this might inspire us in our reading of Plato's works.
Seasonal and environmental factors contribute to the variation in the gut microbiome : A large-scale study of a small bird
Environmental variation can shape the gut microbiome, but broad/large-scale data on among and within-population heterogeneity in the gut microbiome and the associated environmental factors of wild populations is lacking. Furthermore, previous studies have limited taxonomical coverage, and knowledge about wild avian gut microbiomes is still scarce. We investigated large-scale environmental variatio
Were COVID-19 lockdowns worth it? A meta-analysis
Following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, an unprecedented use of mandatory lockdowns—defined as the imposition of at least one compulsory, non-pharmaceutical intervention—took place. We conduct a meta-analysis to determine the effect of these lockdowns on COVID-19 mortality. Our meta-analysis finds that lockdowns in the spring of 2020 had a relatively small effect on COVID-19 mortality and is
Predictive significance of high neutrophil ratio for thrombosis in myeloproliferative neoplasms : JSH-MPN-R18 subanalysis
Thrombosis in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) is an important clinical problem, and risk-stratified management is essential. To identify the clinical characteristics of thrombosis in patients with MPNs, a nationwide multi-institutional retrospective analysis (JSH-MPN-R18) was conducted. The aim of the present study was to perform a sub-analysis of JSH-MPN-R18 findings to clarify the predictive
Action research as a meta-methodology : insights from an operations development project
This research addresses action research (AR) as a meta-methodology and uses an operations development project as an illustration to provide some insights on AR as a meta-methodology. First, we report on a six-month action research (AR) project concerning analysing and improving production and inventory performance in an industrial firm in the food and beverage industry. The implementation of a new
Asynchronous vs Synchronous SAR ADCs - Performance Beyond Nominal Speed
This paper presents a comparison between a Itl-bit asynchronous SAR (ASAR) ADC and a 10-bit synchronous SAR (SSAR) ADC, both designed and simulated in a 22-nm FDSOI CMOS process. To further support the simulation results, the ASAR ADC has also been fabricated and measurements are pre-sented. As opposed to the abrupt SNDR collapse in the SSAR ADC, the SNDR of the ASAR ADC shows a more graceful deg-
The Gender Revolution: Marriage, Fertility, and Divorce in the Industrial City
This chapter focuses on industrialization and family behavior during the twentieth century against the backdrop of economic and institutional change. It documents trends regarding marriage and fertility and union dissolution from a gender perspective, and explores the role of socioeconomic status (SES) for these processes. Findings confirm patterns regarding gender and family consistent with that
Rubus wahlbergii and related species in Sweden
We studied Rubus wahlbergii and related species in R. sect. Corylifolii, primarily in Sweden, using DNA microsatellites. The results show that the material can be divided into three species: R. wahlbergii s.s. which occurs along the Swedish coast from Bohuslän to Uppland, R. nordicus which occurs on the western coast all the way south to north-western Skåne, and a previously unrecognized taxon whi
European stroke organisation and European society for minimally invasive neurological therapy guideline on acute management of basilar artery occlusion
The aim of the present European Stroke Organisation (ESO) guideline is to provide evidence-based recommendations on the acute management of patients with basilar artery occlusion (BAO). These guidelines were prepared following the Standard Operational Procedure of the ESO and according to the GRADE methodology. Although BAO accounts for only 1%–2% of all strokes, it has very poor natural outcome.
Long-term follow-up of the randomized, prospective Scandinavian heart transplant everolimus de novo study with early calcineurin inhibitors avoidance (SCHEDULE) trial
Background: Early substitution of calcineurin inhibitor (CNI) with mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors has been shown to improve kidney function and reduce intimal hyperplasia in heart transplant (HTx) recipients but data on long-term outcome of such a regime are still sparse. Methods: In the SCHEDULE trial, 115 de novo HTx recipients were randomized to (1) everolimus with reduced exposure of

Making foreign policy matter : A discursive analysis of the strategic communication of Sweden’s feminist foreign policy
This dissertation examines strategic communication of foreign policy as a dynamic process, in which a variety of actors are involved. To achieve this, foreign policy is conceptualized as a discourse that is co-produced by the government, public diplomacy practitioners, and publics in different communication settings. The thesis argues that in these practices of co-production, power flows in and fr
The Role of Co-Creation in Enhancing Explorative and Exploitative Learning in Project-Based Settings
We study how co-creation practices influence explorative and exploitative learning in five collaborative construction projects with partnering arrangements. Drawing on a longitudinal case study, our findings reveal two different types of explorative learning processes (i.e., adaptation and radical development) and three different exploitative learning processes (i.e., incremental development, know

Longitudinal changes in cardiovascular disease–related proteins in welders
Objective: Occupational exposure to welding fumes is linked to a higher risk of cardiovascular disease; however, the threshold exposure level is unknown. Here, we aimed to identify changes in proteins associated with cardiovascular disease in relation to exposure to welding fumes. Methods: Data were obtained from two timepoints six years apart for 338 non-smoking men (171 welders, 167 controls); o
Sustainability Transformation and the Transformative Capacity of Nation States: Implications of Innovation Policy
The need for radical transformations to respond to the environmental polycrises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution has come to the forefront of political and academic debates. Nation states must have transformative capacity, meaning the ability to ignite, enable, and steer large-scale sustainability transformations. However, despite its importance, there remains a significant gap
Preoperatively suspected gallbladder cancer improves survival compared with incidental gallbladder cancer in pT3 patients
Background: The aim was to compare survival for incidental gallbladder cancer (IGBC), respectively, preoperatively suspected gallbladder cancer (GBC), subjected to surgery for different pathological tumour (pT) stages and in different treatment groups in a national cohort. Methods: Data were collected and crosslinked from two national quality registers, SweLiv (2009–2019) and GallRiks (2009–2016).
