Lund University and University of Copenhagen arrange the conference "The Image of Religion & Political Theology in Contemporary Pop Culture" in November 16th - 17th.

The conference calls for a wide range of empirical case studies and theoretical papers on the subject of religion, political theology and pop culture. A number of scholars from theology and religious studies are invited, who will try to dig into the world of contemporary popular culture in order to reveal and discuss the theological or religious messages, forms and figures used. This is the first step in gaining a better perspective on the impact, that such forms of theology and religion have on society at large.

Key note speakers: Anne Katrine de Hemmer Gudme (Oslo University), Jonas Otterbeck (Aga Khan University, London), and Teemu Taira (University of Helsinki).

The conference is funded by CEMES and the Faculty of Theology at the University of Copenhagen as well as the Centre for Theology and Religious Studies at Lund University.
