The Shannon bit error limit for linear coded modulation
We find the Shannon limit to bit error rate (BER) as a function of E_b/N_0 for linear coded modulations. Error performance of TCM and other schemes can be compared to this curve. As the bandwidth of the signals in Hz-s/data bit drops, capacity becomes sensitive to the stopband spectrum, and the limit moves strongly away from the BER of practical systems when the stopband rolloff is not severe.

Knee-extension strength, postural control and function are related to fracture type and thigh edema in patients with hip fracture.
BACKGROUND: Post-surgery thigh edema, loss of knee-extension strength, and reduced physical performance are common following a hip fracture. It is not known if knee-extension strength and physical performance are related to the edema and fracture type. The aim of this study was to examine the influence of fracture type and post-surgery edema on physical performances in patients with hip fracture.
A Revolution in Military Geopolitics?
Situated probing
In this position paper we present methodological considerations from a project in which we have collaborated with people with cognitive difficulties and university students. For people with considerable difficulties in communicating, a new means of expressing their dreams was required. Cultural probes were used to inspire, inform and surprise in the design process: situated probing.
