Ambiguities Thereafter - An Interpretive Approach to Acquisitions
Författaren hävdar att för att kunna förstå vad som händer i ett företag under en uppköpsprocess så måste man beakta dWhile the human side of mergers and acquisitions is increasingly focused in both research and practice, it still suffers from several forms of oversimplifications. This study addresses the problem of how various employees interpret objectives, corporate identity and other meanings associated with the post-acquisition process, and what roles these multiple interpretations play during this critical

A genetic polymorphism in connexin 37 as a prognostic marker for atherosclerotic plaque development
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial disease, in part characterized by chronic inflammatory changes in the vessel wall and loss of normal physical and biochemical interactions between endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells. Previous studies [Hu J., Cotgreave IA. J Clin Invest; 99: 1-5] have provided molecular links between inflammation and myoendothelial communication

Social capital, institutional (vertical) trust and smoking: A study of daily smoking and smoking cessation among ever smokers.
Objectives: The associations between vertical ( institutional) trust in the healthcare system and the mass media ( newspapers and television), and daily smoking and smoking cessation were investigated. Methods: The 2004 public-health survey in Scania is a cross-sectional study. A total of 27,757 persons aged 18-80 years answered a postal questionnaire, which represents 59% of the random sample. A
Performance of fountain codes in collaborative relay networks
Cooperative communications, where parallel relays forward information to a destination node, can greatly improve the energy efficiency and latency in ad-hoc networks. However, current networks do not fully exploit its potential as they only use traditional energy-accumulation, which is often used in conjunction with repetition coding or cooperative space-time codes. In this paper, we show that the
Isospin breaking in K -> 3 pi decays I: strong isospin breaking
The CP conserving amplitudes for the decays K --> 3pi are calculated in Chiral Perturbation Theory. The calculation is made at the next-to-leading order including strong and local electromagnetic isospin breaking. A comparison is made between the squared amplitudes with and without isospin violation to estimate the size of the effect. We find corrections of order five percent in the amplitudes.

Optical Lectin Based Biosensor as Tool for Bacteria Identification
Biosensor techniques are based on biospecific interaction between the biological parts of biosensor with the analyte. In biosensor construction, antibodies are usually used for the detection of analytes such as microorganism, because of very strong and highly specific interaction. The disadvantages of this assay are a long time needed for antibody isolation and purification as well as difficult re
Jitterbug: A Tool for Analysis of Real-Time Control Performance
The paper presents Jitterbug, a Matlab-basedtoolbox for real-time control performance analysis. The controlsystem is described using a number of connected continuous-time anddiscrete-time linear systems. The control performance is measured bya continuous-time quadratic cost function. A stochastic executionmodel is used to describe when the different discrete-time systemsare updated during the cont
Emission of Intermediate Mass Fragments Using Gamma-spectroscopic Techniques
Intermediate mass fragments (IMF) and light particles emitted from the Ni-58 + Ni-58 reaction at a beam energy of 375 MeV have been studied. The fragments and light particles were measured in coincidence with 4 pi gamma-ray spectrometer. The Z=6 (C) kinetic energy spectra and the distribution of the final nuclei in coincidence with the emitted C are well described by Hauser-Feshbach calculations e
The long-term injured competitive athlete : A study of psychosocial risk factors
The thesis includes five separate studies concerned mainly with psychosocial aspects of the problems that athletes afflicted with long-term sport injuries face. The first study deals with relationships between personality variables, coping strategies and mood-levels, both in athletes participating in competitive sports and in a non-athlete reference groups. The results indicate the athletes to us
Arkitekt i mellankrigstidens Europa - Fred Forbat och funktionalismen
This is the first comprehensive monograph on the subject of the architect Fred Forbat. He was a pioneer of functionalism who worked in four different countries. Besides being a presentation of Forbats work, interesting in itself, this investigation also aims at addressing certain questions regarding the history and concept of functionalism as a style and movement. I deal with the work in chronolog

The Hilbert-Huang transform for detection of otoacoustic emissions and time-frequency mapping
This paper presents an application of the Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) and ensemble correlation for detection of the transient evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAEs), and high resolution time-frequency mapping. The HHT provides a powerful tool for nonlinear analysis of nonstationary signals such as TEOAEs. Since the HHT itself does not distinguish between signal and noise it was used with ensemble
Analysis of the molecular interplay between Streptococcus pyogenes and its human host
The common human pathogen Streptococcus pyogenes is the causative agent of numerous mild and severe clinical conditions. It expresses a number of secreted or cell wall-anchored proteins that modulate the human immune system and facilitate colonization and spread of the pathogen in the human host. During S. pyogenes infections, human plasma leaks into the site of infection as a consequence of infl
