Beskrivning
TRVN02. In late antiquity Jewish, Christian and Islamic theology emerged and was developed through an interaction between the Scriptures and the philosophical traditions of antiquity. The transmission, interpretation, explanation and use of the Scriptures was fashioned by the culture and ideas prevalent in the society in which the religions emerged. In order to understand the basic character of the theology of the religions it is necessary to know the philosophical heritage into which the religious traditions were integrated. In the course students will become acquainted with the main philosophical traditions of antiquity and will study how these shaped emerging Christian theology. The course work involves home study of general course literature, seminars to discuss these readings, a focused study of specific philosophical and theological texts in original language as well as an essay. Instruction is provided partially over the internet and partially during intensive seminars. Participation in the course forum on the internet is a requirement, as well as the submission of an essay.

First or Second Admission Round?
All international students are encouraged to apply to the First admission round. This round takes place many months before the start of a semester and gives students the time they need to pay their tuition fees, apply for and receive their residence permit (if required), find housing, etc.
The Second admission round is an alternative for students from EU/EEA countries as they do not need a residence permit. Non-EU/EEA students will most likely not have enough time to obtain their permit before the start of the semester. However, even EU/EEA students are advised to apply during the First admission round, as some programmes can be applied for only in the January round. Also, this provides applicants with an admission decision much earlier, which is helpful in making decisions about their studies.
