The Ravensbrück Archive receives Memory of the World status

UNESCO has added the unique archive of 500 in-depth interviews with Holocaust survivors to the Memory of the World Register. It recognises the Ravensbrück Archive as an example of a cultural heritage of great value to humanity. The University Library manages this documentary heritage and keeps the archive protected and digitally accessible to all. On 10 April, UNESCO decided to add the Ravensbrück

A renovated library awaits you this autumn

The building that houses the University Library has been named the most beautiful in Lund and Sweden several times. After the renovation, we hope you feel that the inside of the building harmonises with the outside. See a glimpse of how it turned out here. The University Library boasts a stunning exterior. But the inside may not have been as impressive as the outside. We addressed this in the reno

Searching becomes easier with Finn

The libraries at Lund University are launching a new search system, making searching easier. LUBcat and LUBsearch will close on 1 October, and the new search tool Finn will replace them. With the shift to a single search system, the libraries aim to make it easier for students, staff, and other users.Finn helps you find all the books, journals, articles, and databases at Lund University. You can m

Digitisation of card catalogues led to unexpected discovery at the University Library

Through its extensive digitisation of older card catalogues, Lund University Library has made an unexpected discovery: a copy of astronomer Copernicus' famous work from the 16th century, which presents the theory that the Earth revolves around the Sun. The discovery was made possible thanks to the new full-text search in Catalogue-1957, which makes the library's older material much more accessible

University administrative award recognises work on the Ravensbrück archive

We are so proud of our colleagues Håkan Håkansson and Tomasz Lesniak. Their work to make the Ravensbrück archive's testimonies from the Holocaust freely available to everyone led UNESCO to recognise the archive as a world memory last year. Now they are receiving an award from the university for their solid work. The Ravensbrück Archive is a collection of 500 in-depth interviews with survivors of N

Svårt hjärntrauma aktiverar vilande kroppsegna retrovirus i hjärnan

How Hidden Genetic Elements Trigger a Rare Neurodegenerative Disorder

Researchers from the Jakobsson Group at Lund University have discovered how a hidden piece of DNA, known as a transposable element, disrupts normal gene function in a disease called X-Linked Dystonia-Parkinsonism (XDP). Published in Nature Structural and Molecular Biology, their findings uncover the epigenetic processes that lead to changes in gene expression linked to XDP, offering new insights i
