Many recognize the phrase Smart Home, but few have actually experienced it. The world of Internet of Things (IoT) is all over the IT industry. The hardware already exists. So, why do we not see these kinds of solutions in reality? A simple Smart Home experience could be a system that consists of a motion sensor and a coffee machine. The motion sensor is placed above your apartment door. When it se
The Swiss franc has had a reputation as a safe haven investment for decades, due to stable economic and political conditions in Switzerland. As a result, capital inflow has been high during times of financial stress around the world, in turn causing appreciating pressure on the real exchange rate. The financial crisis of 2008 was such a period, forcing the Swiss National Bank to peg the Swiss fran
The objective of this Master Thesis is to investigate the homogeneity level of the Partially Premixed Combustion using different injection strategies, for low load engine conditions. In order to achieve this aim, it is necessary to understand the Partially Premixed Combustion process of an engine through the performance of optical measurements in an optical setup. Partially Premixed Combustion (PP
In this thesis a Moving Horizon Estimator (MHE) has been implemented for the JModelica.org platform. JModelica.org is an open-source software platform for simulation and optimization of systems described in the modeling language Modelica. MHE is an optimization-based strategy for state estimation where, at each time step, a finite horizon optimization problem is solved to generate an estimate of t
Frågeställningar: Hur förändras kvinnorollen i trilogin?
BeskattningWhere and how an individual chooses to live, can be caused by many different things. The legislator´s ambition is that taxation of the dwelling is not a factor that determines the choice of residence. Taxation of the accommodation shall be neutral, no matter what accommodation you choose. Investigations and proposals on how this can become a reality had followed, one after the other, over the past
The purpose of this thesis was to study language transfer from the majority language Swedish to the minority language Arabic (the Syrian-Palestinian dialect). The problem negative language transfer causes is that dominant languages affect minority languages in a society in a negative way. The result is that the speakers of these languages never learn how to speak these languages properly. If we kn
Efter att nämnThe Swedish lay judge system is a nearly thousand year old tradition, but has during that time been an institution in constant change, whose role has changed significantly from when it was first introduced into Sweden’s administration of justice until today’s modern system. The lay judges were originally used as a means of proof, thereafter functioned as ordinary judges, to later be reduced to adv
The technological development and above all the internet has had a major impact on international trade. The ability to transfer data within companies, but also between companies and countries is an essential part of this development and the ability to transfer data today is a central component of companies’ everyday activities. In practice, a company cannot do business, or engage in trade, without
Over the past years the southern beach of Nha Trang, located in the south central of Vietnam, has started to indicate signs of erosion in the northern part. As the beach plays an important role for this touristic hotspot, the fear that the erosion will become severe has been raised. The limited knowledge and previous performed studies of the general coastal processes affecting the shoreline evolut
När normer som demokrati och mänskliThe foundation of territorially legitimated politics lies in the principle of sovereignty. These have been forced to retreat/stand back to the global processes of change, which have been shaping the world around us during recent decades. One of these processes is judicalization where an increasing number of politically important questions are determined by courts and other judicial organs rather t
Despite longstanding and far-reaching recognition of the need for social change towards environmental sustainability, the delivery of this transition is proving problematic. Dominant strategies for sustainable development in western countries focus on uncoupling economic development from ecological harm. Scandinavia epitomises this approach to green economy, especially in the transition to a low-c
This paper builds on the empirical studies that have investigated the relationship between fiscal policies and the current account balance. Fiscal balances have been the most notable proxies for fiscal policies in these studies but also the general public expenditure has been considered. Drawing on this inspiration, this paper analyses the empirical relationship between military expenditures and t
