Endogenous Communication and Tacit Coordination in Market Entry Games - An explorative experimental study

This paper explores experimentally the effects of costly communication possibilities in market entry games. It is shown that these effects depend on whether entry costs are symmetric or asymmetric. In the former, but not the latter case, communication possibilities increase coordination success substantially and are likely to generate inferior outcomes for consumers. Furthermore, cost asymmetries

The Motherhood of the Road : From Paradise Lost to Paradise

The Judeo-Christian tradition is a common cultural womb for many Westerners; in its literary registers travel replicates, metaphorically as well as metonymically, the story of creation: birth, living, death, or: Genesis, Exodus, the Final Judgment. Life – the exilic wandering forced upon Adam and Eve after the Fall – is an oft cited ‘first journey’ of humankind which transports a compelling ancest

The Dilemma of Law: An Examination of Cotrovertial Judicial Decisions in Ethno-Culturally Based Legal Disputes

In October 1989, a 24-year-old Kurdish immigrant from Iraq was brought before the Sandviken Lower Court in Sweden charged with assaulting, coercing and threatening his pregnant ex-girlfriend who had left him to live with another man. Although, the court found the defendant guilty as charged, it nevertheless released him on a suspended sentence and a fine of 3000 Swedish Kronor. Conviction on this

DEN FÖRSVUNNA HISTORIEN. Förintelsen i tjeckisk och slovakisk historiekultur

The main focus of this study is the place of the Holocaust in the Czech and Slovak historical cultures during ”the long 1990s”, i.e. between the fall of the Communist regime in Czechoslovakia at the end of 1989 and the entry of both the Czech and Slovak Republics into the European Union in 2004. When morality and conscience have been placed in the centre of new European politics instead of ideolog

Choral Research 1960-2010 : Bibliography

This choral research bibliography has been compiled on commission from Körcentrum Syd with the aim of mapping choral research in Sweden and globally. Since one of the goals of Körcentrum Syd's activity is to strengthen choral vitality and choral research in the region as well as to develop these on a national level, a need to map choral research and its status quo has been formulated. This is part

Restarting algorithms for simulation problems with discontinuities

Modelica has in its language support for describing discontinuities; so-called events. Modern integrating environments; like Assimulo; provide elaborated event detection and event handling methods. In addition; the overall performance of a simulation of models with discontinuities (hybrid models) depends strongly on methods for restarting integration after event detection. The presented paper revi

Machinability variations in Alloy 718 —With focus on machining of turbine components

Popular Abstract in English You may have never heard of gas turbine engines, but they are used in all kinds of un¬expected places. For example, many of the helicopters you see, a lot of s¬maller power plants and even the military vehicle use gas turbines. A gas turbine consists of a compressor, a combustion chamber and a turbine. Air is taken into the compressor and mechanically compressed. It isIn gas turbine engine, nickel base alloy, such as Alloy 718, accounts for almost half of the total material requirement. Nickel-base superalloys are used for gas turbine components mainly because of their outstanding strength and resistance to oxidation at high temperatures (> 550°C). The massive cost involved with the machining of nickel alloys has driven continued research and development of cut

Chemical magnetoreception: Bird cryptochrome 1a is excited by blue light and forms long-lived radical-pairs

Cryptochromes (Cry) have been suggested to form the basis of light-dependent magnetic compass orientation in birds. However, to function as magnetic compass sensors, the cryptochromes of migratory birds must possess a number of key biophysical characteristics. Most importantly, absorption of blue light must produce radical pairs with lifetimes longer than about a microsecond. Cryptochrome 1a (gwCr
