Studies of Long-lived Radionuclides in the Environment - with Emphasis on 99Tc, 237Np and Pu Isotopes
Studies of the long-lived anthropogenic radionuclides 99Tc, 237Np, 239Pu and 240Pu were performed in marine and terrestrial areas contaminated by different accidental and controlled releases of radioactive materials. The three main sources discussed in this thesis are nuclear weapons tests, nuclear reprocessing plants and the Chernobyl accident. Results are mainly based on measurements of environm

Endothelial Barrier Dysfunction in Multiple Organ Injury. An Experimental Study in Rats
MODS kan uppkomma vid primära infektioner i buken typ inflammation och perforation (bristning) av någon del av magtarmkanalen, akut bukspottkörMultiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) is still the leading cause of mortality in the surgical intensive care unit. The effect on among others endothelial barrier permeability, reticuloendothelial function, organ function and protease-antiprotease activities was studied following a variety of challenges, especially over-activation of macrophages induced by intraperitoneal administration of zym

Algebraic Dependence of Commuting Elements in Algebras
The aim of this paper to draw attention to several aspects of the algebraic dependence in algebras. The article starts with discussions of the algebraic dependence problem in commutative algebras. Then the Burchnall-Chaundy construction for proving algebraic dependence and obtaining the corresponding algebraic curves for commuting differential operators in the Heisenberg algebra is reviewed. Next

Global observables and identified hadrons in the phenix experiment at RHIC
The PHENIX experiment is one of the two large experiments at RHIC. It addresses most of the signals suggested from the Quark-Gluon Plasma. This paper focuses on the measurements of global observables and identified hadron spectra and particle ratios from the two first runs with Au+Au collisions at 130A GeV and 200A GeV. The energy density reached in the most central collisions is about 5 GeV/fm(3)

Packing effects in palladium(II) and platinum(II) compounds, X-ray crystallography
En kristallsThis thesis focuses on i) the effect of packing on the molecular geometry ii) packing arrangements of neutral Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes iii) the trans influence in Pt(II) complexes iv) the differences in bonding in corresponding Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes and v) the geometry of Pd(II) complexes with potential catalytic properties. Detailed three-dimensional structural information at the atomic

Predicting Travel Times in Dense and Highly Varying Road Traffic Networks using STARIMA Models.
As road networks are becoming increasingly utilised, it is increasingly important to be able to accurately predict travel times for disseminating information among road users and to support traffic management decisions and planning. Over the past few years, a new way of making such predictions utilising the space-time autoregressive integrated moving average (STARIMA) model has been introduced. Th
