An LC-Based Tunable Low-Isolation Device for Adaptive Duplexers

An LTE-enabled smartphone is a software-defined radio system that must cover a large number of frequency bands with different duplex differences. A proposed adaptive wideband duplexer needs a circulator to create the required initial isolation. To replace this an LC-based tunable low-isolation device is presented in this paper, providing the required tuning range for LTE Band I, II, III and VII. T

High Resolution Monitoring of Woody Vegetation Change over New South Wales

Remote sensing is used by the Department of Environment, Climate change and Water (DECCW) for mapping and monitoring the extent of woody vegetation in the State of New South Wales (NSW). In the past DECCW has relied solely on Landsat imagery to provide for these requirements but the need to map woody vegetation change in landscapes such as open woodlands with scattered trees, grasslands, and highl

Global Climate Governance Beyond 2012. Architecture, Agency and Adaptation

A cutting-edge assessment of policy options for future global climate governance, written by a team of leading experts from the European Union and developing countries. Global climate governance is at a crossroads. The 1997 Kyoto Protocol was merely a first step, and its core commitments expire in 2012. This book addresses three questions which will be central to any new climate agreement. What is

Tracing the drivers of B2B brand strength and value

Popular Abstract in Swedish By building a strong brand that is favourably perceived by target customers, a firm can establish a competitive advantage that enables greater revenues and profitability. This is at least what the branding literature always has assumed, and something few marketing and brand managers seem to disagree with. This is at least what the branding literature always has assumed, and something few marketing and brand managers seem to disagree with. When asked how exactly a brand can be charged with such great value, however, neither academi

Optimal time-frequency occupancy of finite packet OFDM

In this paper we consider the least time--frequency product necessary to transmit a small finite symbol packet such that the symbols can be independently detected. The system model assumed is offset QAM-OFDM, based on a finite duration pulse shape. The outcome is that the optimal pulse shape is of very short duration and that the optimal symbol allocation strategy is often to use as many subcarrie

Grafchart for Recipe-Based Batch Control

The paper presents how Grafchart, a toolbox based on Grafcet, object-oriented programming ideas and high-level Petri nets, can be used to implement a batch control recipe execution and recipe representation system,. A brief overview of Grafchart is given and it is shown how its concepts fit the models defined in the recent ISA batch control standard S88.01. A simulated batch process cell scenario

Self-Tuning Control of the Dissolved Oxygen Concentration in Activated Sludge Systems

Self-tuning control of the dissolved oxygen concentration has been tested in full scale at the Käppala Sewage Works at Lidingö, Sweden. The controller has been shown to be robust during varying operating conditions. It also gives the potential for the estimation of interesting variables, such as the oxygen uptake rate. A number of water quality variables have been examined. Interesting couplings b
