Measurements of microclimates in beds in relation to the climatic requirements of house dust mites

House dust mites are animals of a size less than 0.5 mm that can live in beds, carpets and furniture feeding on skin scales. They are a common source of allergy in, e.g., Scandinavia, where their major habitat is in beds. Previous studies show that in drier environments the house dust mite occurrence is lower, and persons with dust mite allergy have fewer symptoms during the winter when the indoor

Implementation of a Pascal based parallel language for a multiprocessor computer

This paper reports the work on implementing a parallel version of Pascal on a small scale multiprocessor computer. A few simple primitives were included to support parallel programming. The code generation, linking and loading procedures are described. An overview of the hardware is included. Finally some programming experience with the system is reported.

From the cradle of social democracy to neoliberal playground: Malmö and the competition for urban imaginaries

Based on evidence from urban development projects in the city of Malmö, Sweden, I would like to discuss the idea that the success of the neoliberal utopia is based not in a clear break with its predecessor - social democracy – but in the appropriation, reworking and transformation of the social-democratic ideal to suit specific elite interests. The current institutionalisation of neoliberal planni

Adaptive Nonlinear Model Predictive Control with Suboptimality and Stability Guarantees

Theory for Adaptive Nonlinear Model Predictive Control is developed based on the relaxed dynamic programming inequality. The adaptivity in the controller lies in the choice of control horizon. The control horizon is chosen such that a variation of the relaxed dynamic programming inequality holds for all time steps along the closed loop trajectory. This provides guarantees for asymptotic stability

Stochastic Theory of Continuous-Time State-Space Identification

This paper presents theory, algorithms, and validation results for system identification of continuous-time state-space models from finite input-output sequences. The algorithms developed are methods of subspace model identification and stochastic realization adapted to the continuous-time context. The resulting model can be decomposed into an input-output model and a stochastic innovations model.

Analysis of Real-Time Control Systems with Time Delays

We discuss modeling and analysis of real-time control systems subject to random time delays in the communication network. A new method for analysis of given control schemes is presented. The state of the network is modeled by a Markov chain and Lyapunov equations for the expected LQG performance are presented. An example that illustrates the results is given.

High resolution digital transmission microscopy : a Fourier holography approach

A spherical reference field is used to construct a digital holography system with a demonstrated resolution down to 228 line pairs per mm. The reference field origin from a GRIN lens placed 1mm from the illuminated object. This allows the use of a standard sensor to record the hologram with the required numerical aperture. The image is determined by evaluation of the Rayleigh-Sommerfeld diffraction i
