Value Investing on the Nordic Stock Market - Does the Magic Formula constitute a viable strategy for outperforming the market?

In this thesis we investigate if following the magic formula can yield superior investment returns in relation to the risk taken. The magic formula is a term coined by Joel Greenblatt, describing a systematic approach to successful stock investing. The strategy identifies high value companies based on return on capital that are selling at a discount to their intrinsic value based on the company’s

Improving product rollover management at Axis Communications

Background For companies’ long term survival it is essential to manage product rollovers successfully. It can even be more important than the product development in some cases. Unfortunately, most companies experience less than successful product rollovers. Several difficulties can jeopardise a successful rollover, such as: technical problems that can delay a new product introduction, excess prod

Abstract Author: Frida Beck Title: “Skilsmässobarn bär på en tung ryggsäck” Supervisor: Mats Hilte Assessor: Håkan Johansson The aim of this study was to examine how social constructions of children to divorced parents appear in daily newspapers and evening papers. Furthermore this study also examined the difference in the social perception of the child and the parent. The selection of empirica

Production of K0S and Lambda in p-Pb Collisions at sqrt(s_NN)=5.02 TeV Measured with the ALICE Detector at the LHC

This thesis presents an analysis of the production of K_S^0 and Λ particles in p-Pb collisions at a center of mass collision energy of sqrt(s_NN) = 5.02 TeV, measured with the ALICE detector at the LHC, CERN. The p_T spectra as well as the baryon-to-meson yield ratio Λ/K_S^0, for p_T <= 15 GeV/c, are investigated and compared for different centrality bins. The results are compared to those from Pb

Sustainable innovative drinking water treatment solutions for PFAS for large-scale water supply and reuse

Introduction: Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) concentration limits in drinking water have been decreased or are going to be decrease worldwide. Drinking water is the single largest input to our bodies, with 2-2.5 L/day for adults. However, current water treatment techniques are inefficient to remove PFAS from drinking water. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop sustainable inno

Demonstration of concentrated solar power coupled with advanced desalination system in the gulf region

IntroductionThe DESOLINATION project, DEmonstration of concentrated SOLar power coupledwIth advaNced desalination system in the gulf regION, will demonstrate the efficientcoupling of a concentrated solar power (CSP) system to a membrane-based desalinationsystem at real environment. The waste heat from the CSP system will be used to drivethe membrane-based desalination processes. Therefore, the cos

Spectral phase control for optimized ionization injection in laser wakefield acceleration

Generating narrow energy spread beams from laser wakefield accelerators with minimal dark current is important for many applications. We present an automated experiment using Bayesian optimization to control the laser spectral phase and focal position, achieving significant enhancement of the beam quality. Starting from a broadband spectrum, the optimized configuration achieved low-energy spread w

Extending Human Lung Monitoring by Laser Spectroscopy From Infants Toward Adults: Initial Proof of Concept in a Porcine Lung Model

Lung function monitoring and prompt diagnosis of lung impairment are essential for optimal patient care. During surgery, anesthesia and ventilator assistance are standard, and mechanical ventilation is often required in severe cases, as highlighted during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. There is a clear need for powerful, real-time lung surveillance techniques that can provide feedback to ventilator

Deep learning-driven investigation of nanoplastic impacts on soil protist behavior in soil chips

Nanoplastics are emerging environmental contaminants that increasingly threaten soil ecosystems, yet their effects on microbial behavior remain poorly understood. This is mainly due to the lack of experimental tools capable of directly observing microbial dynamics in situ under realistic soil-like conditions. Here, we present a proof-of-concept system that enables real-time, high-throughput monito

Everolimus precision therapy in NPRL2- and NPRL3-related epilepsy

Disinhibition of the mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway has been observed in patients with loss-of-function variants in the disheveled, Egl-10, and pleckstrin domain-containing protein 5 (DEPDC5), and nitrogen permease regulator-like proteins 2 and 3 (NPRL2, and NPRL3) genes, which encode the components of GTPase activating protein Activity Toward Rags Complex 1 (GATOR1) complex. Evero

Erik Ewalds och Bibeln: En receptionshistorisk studie i ljuset av Gadamers hermeneutik

This thesis is based on the Swedish pastoral writings of Finland-Swedish priest and theologian Erik Ewalds (1918-1997). It employs Hans-Georg Gadamer’s hermeneutics together with an adapted reception-historical method to understand how Ewalds draws out meaningful and practically relevant insights from the bible. In Gadamer’s terms, this combination facilitates a fusion of horizons between Ewalds’

Management of oligometastatic anal cancer—a literature review and a proposed treatment algorithm

Oligometastatic squamous-cell carcinoma of the anus (omSCCA) is a very rare condition. The literature is sparse, and treatment guidelines are lacking. The aim of the present work was to carry out a literature review and to propose an algorithm for intensified treatment of patients with omSCCA. A PubMed search was carried out, which resulted in 15 relevant publications that included any type of def

Comparison of potential-energy surfaces and moments of inertia with experimental spectroscopic trends for non-spherical Z = 50-82 nuclei

A broad discussion of the ground-state potential-energy surfaces of doubly even deformed and transitional nuclei with Z = 50-82 is presented. The surfaces are calculated microscopically as functions of the quadrupole axial ε and non-axial γ and the axial hexadecapole ε4 deformations. A correlation between the form of the surfaces and the experimental spectroscopic trends is extensively discussed.

A Registered Report on Place-Based Resentment : Exploring Urban-Rural Tensions in Sweden

This Registered Report examines urban-rural tensions in Sweden - a historically egalitarian, multi-party welfare state with strong geographical equalization schemes, making it a least-likely case for place-based resentment theories. Using an online survey experiment (n = 2,051), we measured resentment through perceptions of in-group and out-group, and by experimentally varying whether political st

Rendering unto Caesar : Receptions of the Bible as a source for secularism

In this article, I identify a key trend for demarcating the “secular” as a Western, Christian achievement. I analyze how the New Testament story often known as “Render unto Caesar” is referenced as a source for the secular West, particularly in writings by European and American conservative thinkers in the 1990s and early 2000s. My argument is that these references to “Render unto Caesar” constitu
