Connections and Challenges in the Study of Women’s Ordination
Research on the ordination of women tends to focus on a single church within a single country. Comparative studies across contexts, or investigations of the relationships between different churches nationally and internationally, are rare—even though it is clear that considerable exchange has taken place through movements such as the women’s movement and the ecumenical movement.
The symposium "Connections and Challenges in the Study of Women’s Ordination" aims to initiate a conversation on women in ministry and to highlight the connections and parallels that emerge when multiple scholarly perspectives are combined in the analysis of diverse ecclesial contexts.
The symposium is organised in conjunction with the publication of the book The First Ordained Women in the Church of Sweden: Narratives of Vocation and Recognition (Lund University Press/Manchester University Press), authored by Frida Mannerfelt and Alexander Maurits.
Those who register with Frida Mannerfelt or Alexander Maurits will be able to attend the seminars and listen to the presentations.
