Can They Stay or Will They Go? : A Cross Sectional Study of Managers' Attitudes towards Their Senior Employees

A larger amount of older people need to participate in working life due to the global demographic change. It is the employer, through the manager, who enables employees to have access to measures in the workplace that facilitate and enable a sustainable extended working life. The aim of this study was to evaluate work life factors associated with managers believing their employees can work versus

Managers’ Attitudes to Different Action Proposals in the Direction to Extended Working Life : A Cross-Sectional Study

In many countries, the retirement age is postponed due to the global demographic change, and a larger amount of older people need to participate in working life. However, how and what measures and action proposals that could extend and increase employees’ voluntary and sustainable participation in working life have not entirely been investigated. The employer is responsible for enabling employees’

Valgus slipped capital femoral epiphysis : Presentation, treatment, and clinical outcomes using patient-reported measurements

Valgus slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE), is rare. This study describes the diagnosis, treatment and outcome of valgus SCFE in Uruguay. The medical records and radiographs were reviewed in eight consecutive children [mean age 11.9 years (range 9-13; six female)] with valgus SCFE between 1997-2017. In 2018-2019, all patients were reexamined clinically, new radiographs obtained, and patient-r

The Relationship between Heart Rate and Body Temperature in Critically Ill Patients

OBJECTIVE: The presence of tachycardia in critically ill patients is frequently used as an indication of severity of illness and to guide treatment decisions but can be influenced by body temperature, thus confounding its interpretation. There are few data available on the relationship between body temperature and heart rate in critically ill patients. DESIGN: Retrospective analysis of prospective

Well-Informed Choices? Effects of Information Interventions in Primary Care on Care Quality

Market frictions, such as imperfect information or hassle costs, may reduce benefits from market incentives in healthcare settings. We use data from two randomised policy interventions in a Swedish region, which improved the access to provider information and reduced the switching costs of one percent of the adult population and of a sample of new residents. We examine the effects of the intervent

Building Bridges: The Effect of Major Infrastructure Development on Trade

We provide evidence of a positive effect of major infrastructure development on international trade, using the opening of the fixed link between Denmark and Sweden in 2000 (The Oresund Bridge) as a quasi-natural experiment. Our Synthetic Control Method (SCM) constructs a counterfactual Danish-Swedish trade relationship, which represents bilateral trade in the absence of the bridge. Evaluating actu

Practice patterns of corneal transplantation in Europe : first report by the European Cornea and Cell Transplantation Registry

PURPOSE: To report practice patterns of corneal transplantation in Europe. SETTING: Corneal clinics in 10 European member states (MS), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. DESIGN: Multinational registry study. METHODS: Corneal transplant procedures registered in the European Cornea and Cell Transplantation Registry were identified. Preoperative donor and recipient characteristics, indication and r

Molecular dynamic modelling of the combined influence from strain rate and temperature at tensile loading of nanosized single crystal Cu beams

It is well-known and experimentally confirmed that the mechanical response of small enough structures, with linear measures typically below about 100 nm, differs from the response at macro scale. In addition to size effects, the crystallographic orientation of the material becomes increasingly important at this scale. This paper investigates the combined influence of strain rate and temperature on

First genome-wide association study of esophageal atresia identifies three genetic risk loci at CTNNA3, FOXF1/FOXC2/FOXL1, and HNF1B

Esophageal atresia with or without tracheoesophageal fistula (EA/TEF) is the most common congenital malformation of the upper digestive tract. This study represents the first genome-wide association study (GWAS) to identify risk loci for EA/TEF. We used a European case-control sample comprising 764 EA/TEF patients and 5,778 controls and observed genome-wide significant associations at three loci.

Does gender balance in entrepreneurship education make a difference to prospective start-up behaviour?

Purpose: This study aims to examine the role of gender balance in forming individuals’ understanding of entrepreneurship as manifested in the graduates’ occupational choices, asking: Does gender balance in entrepreneurship education influence start-up behaviour after graduation? Based on gender mainstreaming, this study builds on the assumption that gender balance influences classroom and student PurposeThis study aims to examine the role of gender balance in forming individuals’ understanding of entrepreneurship as manifested in the graduates’ occupational choices, asking: Does gender balance in entrepreneurship education influence start-up behaviour after graduation? Heterotrophic and rhizospheric respiration in coniferous forest soils along a latitudinal gradient

Northern forest soils are a major carbon (C) reservoir of global importance. To estimate how the C balance in these soils will change, the roles of tree roots and soil microbes in C balance should first be decoupled. This study determined how the activity of heterotrophs and tree roots together with root-associated microbes in the rhizosphere varies in coniferous forest soils in boreal, hemiboreal

Management of acute uncomplicated diverticulitis without antibiotics: compliance and outcomes -a retrospective cohort study

MethodsRecent randomized control trials (RCTs) have confirmed that antibiotics in acute uncomplicated diverticulitis (AUD) neither accelerate recovery nor prevent complications or recurrences.A retrospective cohort study was conducted, including all consecutive AUD patients hospitalized 2015- 2018 at Helsingborg Hospital (HH) and Skåne University Hospital (SUS), Sweden. HH had implemented a non-an

Barnavårdsutredningar i privat regi.
