In 2014, the sharia-ruled Aceh province of Indonesia legislated bylaw qanun jinayat no.6/2014, which criminalised same-sex acts, and imposed a caning punishment consisting of a hundred lashes if a person was found guilty. The law impelled a hunt and persecution of LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) individuals, thereby worsening discrimination against the already hampered LGBT community. T

A Network Camera with a Nose

De lägre priserna möjliggör även att de kSome network cameras have already several other sensors besides the image sensor to extend the capabilities of the camera. It is then only natural to think what can be achieved when air sensors are added into the mix. In this master thesis the applications of air sensors coupled together with network cameras have been investigated. Considering the network infrastructure is already in place, having

The power of hydrology in the Omo-Gibe River Basin : Gibe III and flood retreat agriculture on the river omo

My work discusses how Gibe III is a Sustainable Development but is not sustainable. Along the river Omo are tribes and, unlike Gibe III which utilizes instrumental rationality to harness the flow of the River Omo for the production of hydroelectricity, they plant crops after the flow from the hydrological cycle floods the riverbanks with water and nutrients. I simplified Hägerstrand’s (2001) Syste

Active Knäred - Tourism as a driving force for urban growth

FörThis project is investigating how a village can be developed by using tourism as the main driving force. Knäred is a villa- ge with around 1200 inhabitants that has had a decreasing population the past 20 years. It has been decided that the old train stop will be opened for passenger transportation again. But reestablishing a train station does not automa- tically mean that a settlement will grow.

Good meadows, good farmers? An assessment of the cultural sustainability of an Irish pilot results-oriented agri-environmental scheme

Agri-environmental schemes [AESs], which pay farmers to manage their land more environmentally sustainably, are the European Union’s primary policy instrument for addressing rural environmental problems. The majority of AESs in Europe are action-oriented (meaning they pay farmers to adhere to specified management prescriptions). However, a new approach, the results-oriented scheme (which pays farm

Evolution of a Neo-Sex Chromosome

A sneak peek on the upcoming results of the comparison studies regarding the declining Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos minor) in Scania, Sweden

In recent years the populations of the lesser spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos minor) has been declining in Sweden. Many other species, like for example the marsh tit (Poecile palustris), depend on woodland structures that the lesser spotted woodpecker creates such as nesting holes.
