Problem statement: Child work is a serious global issue that has been widely covered by the international media since the beginning of the 90s. The international community has increasingly realized their own link with the amount of childwork in the export-oriented industries. This has resulted in an increase of international pressure of various kinds, and to various campaigns which combat child wo

Technology is playing a vital role for most companies to stay competitive over others. The global market has become very competitive so that it drives companies to adapt themselves to survive on this intense competition. Efficiency of an enterprise can be increased by integrating systems to business partners to create sustainable competitive advantage in the long run. System integration can be don

Following the 2008–2009 global financial crisis, ‘green energy economy’ packages have been implemented to stimulate sustainable economic growth in several Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. Clearly focused on the energy sector, these packages typically include energy-efficiency policy measures and aim to encourage the transition towards a low-carbon economy. W

OBJECTIVES:: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the dopaminergic stabilizer pridopidine (ACR16) in patients with Huntington's disease (HD). METHODS:: In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 4-week trial, patients with HD received pridopidine (50 mg/d, n = 28) or placebo (n = 30). The primary outcome measure was the change from baseline in weighted cognitive score, assessed by cognit

Germany has one of the most ambitious climate policy goals worldwide, having pledged to reduce national emissions by 40% by 2020, and 80–95% by 2050 (base year: 1990). 2015 data suggests that progress on decarbonisation has slowed, also because emissions from the transport sector have grown. Road transport, which is contributing 20.5% to Germany's CO2 emissions, has become a major obstacle to achi

Background: Patients with asthma and elevated blood eosinophils are at increased risk of severe exacerbations. Management of these patients should consider nonadherence to inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) therapy as a factor for increased exacerbation risk. Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate whether poor adherence to ICS therapy explains the occurrence of asthma exacerbations in

The African continent is facing one of the driest periods in the past three decades as well as continued deforestation. These disturbances threaten vegetation carbon (C) stocks and highlight the need for improved capabilities of monitoring large-scale aboveground carbon stock dynamics. Here we use a satellite dataset based on vegetation optical depth derived from low-frequency passive microwaves (

Background: Fitness costs imposed on bacteria by antibiotic resistance mechanisms are believed to hamper their dissemination. The scale of these costs is highly variable. Some, including resistance of Staphylococcus aureus to the clinically important antibiotic mupirocin, have been reported as being cost-free, which suggests that there are few barriers preventing their global spread. However, this

Apolipoprotein (APOE) ε4 is a major genetic risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD), but its importance for the clinical and biological heterogeneity in AD is unclear, particularly at the prodromal stage. We analyzed 151 prodromal AD patients (44 APOE ε4-negative and 107 APOE ε4-positive) from the BioFINDER study. We tested cognition, 18F-flutemetamol β-amyloid (Aβ) positron emission tomography,

The usage of foreign distributors on international markets has increased steadily over the past 30 years. Manufacturers who operate in a business-to-business environment now see the benefits by using this form of arrangement. At the same time the process of building a strong brand is gaining more attention in industrial markets, and has proven to be an effective way to reduce barriers to conclude

Innovation is the key factor of economic growth. Investment in innovation is largely emphasized throughout the world. Sweden has been quite successful in developing high technology and has almost the highest R&D expenditure in terms of its GDP during the recent decade. Due to business practice, issues such as information asymmetry and agency problems hinder firms from raising external funds fr

This paper presents a novel convolutional neural network (CNN)-based control chart for detecting localized and subtle speckle shifts (displacements) in the images. To enhance detection accuracy, especially in detecting localized and simultaneous shifts, we design a custom CNN architecture and utilize a training methodology. Moreover, instead of inputting the entire images, we divide them into equa
