Predikan är hämtad ur vadstenahandskriften C 350 i Uppsala universitetsbibliotek och kan dateras till mellan 1425 och 1459. Det är en mycket lång predikan, av den typ som ofta hölls på långfredagen vid medeltidens slut, med inlevelsefullt återberättande av Jesu lidandes historia.
