Archaeologists discover ‘Swedish Pompeii’
Published 7 October 2013 Archaeologists at Kalmar County museum, in collaboration with Lund University, have found what they describe as a “moment frozen in time” by a brutal massacre. “Sandby borg ring fort is also reminiscent of Pompeii in that all the bodies and houses have remained abandoned for 1,600 years after the massacre”, says project manager Dr Helena Victor at Kalmar County Museum.
