From newly obtained high-resolution, high signal-to-noise ratio spectra the abundances of the elements La and Eu have been determined over the stellar metallicity range -3<[Fe/H]<+0.3 in 159 giant and dwarf stars. Lanthanum is predominantly made by the s-process in the solar system, while Eu owes most of its solar system abundance to the r-process. The changing ratio of these elements in stars ove

This article explores the lexicon of body part terms in Jahai, a Mon-Khmer language spoken by a group of hunter–gatherers in the Malay Peninsula. It provides an extensive inventory of body part terms and describes their structural and semantic properties. The Jahai body part lexicon pays attention to fine anatomical detail but lacks labels for major, 'higher-level' categories, like 'trunk', 'limb'

We consider the problem of spectral analysis of signals composed of sums of multiple amplitude modulated, possibly harmonically related, sinusoids using a sparse approach. By separating the nonlinear frequency variables using a dictionary of possible frequency components as well as a spline basis for the amplitude modulation, results in a convex criterion which can be efficiently solved without
