IoT-Enabled Healthcare : Systems Applications, Benefits, and Challenges

IoT technology for healthcare is a modern innovation that provides reliable and secure use of available resources for serving the healthcare industry. It not only helps improve contact between the community and public healthcare but also significantly lowers healthcare costs and improves treatment outcomes. This book, IoT-Enabled Healthcare Systems: Applications, Benefits, and Challenges, highligh

Expert Systems for Healthcare

There has long been a consensus that healthcare systems play a critical role in enhancing human well-being and contributing to a healthy society. Efforts should be made to promote public awareness and execute necessary measures to improve healthcare. Because of this, a computer-based system is created to allow individuals to self-diagnose their health state based on specified symptoms. This approa

Nocturnal but not diurnal threats shape stopover strategy in a migrating songbird

Songbird migration involves frequent migratory flights interrupted by several days of stopover to refuel. For first-year migratory birds, this entails stopping in unfamiliar locations to exploit local resources and maximise fuelling rates. However, stopovers also pose mortality risks due to predator presence. We aimed to determine whether auditory cues from avian predators with differing hunting s

Palaeoenvironmental changes recorded at the Velika Vrbica loess-palaeosol sequence, Wallachian Basin, during MIS 3–MIS 1

This study presents a detailed investigation of the Velika Vrbica loess-palaeosol sequence, situated in the Wallachian Basin of northeastern Serbia, with the aim to reconstruct palaeoenvironmental changes spanning Marine Isotope Stages (MIS) 3 to 1. Using optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating, low field magnetic susceptibility (χlf), and mass accumulation rates (MARs), we have developed a

Youth Climate Activism in India : A thematic literature of an emerging field

What do we know about youth climate activism in India? Given the country’s rich history of environmental activism and the recent increase in youth climate groups, the literature on youth climate activism in India is surprisingly scant. The present review systematically identified eight studies focusing specifically on young people’s climate activism in India post-2019. An in-depth comparative read

Biologiska museet listar nya arter för Sverige 2023

Årligen upptäcks nya kärlväxter i Sverige.

The two surviving Betony localities in Denmark are located in southwestern Lolland. The future of both populations has been secured at nine reserve localities established in 2017–2024. Plants from Bjerremark (Tågerup parish) can be found at five localities: Guldborgsund Zoo and Botanical Garden, Medical-historical Museum in Næstved, the Barock Garden at Søholt castle, Røgbøllemarken in Søholt Stors

Rights-based constitutionalism in Finland and the development of pluralist constitutional review

Traditional characteristics of Nordic constitutionalism have been challenged increasingly, since the late 1980s, by tendencies toward rights-based constitutionalism. Reminiscent of several other theaters within the global constitutional arena, northern constitutionalism has also witnessed a clear shift from the legislative sovereignty paradigm to one in which legislative acts are increasingly subo

European human rights as universal rights : In defence of a holistic understanding of human rights

Introduction. The European Convention on Human Rights is but one of many human rights treaties binding upon European states. In particular at the level of the United Nations, numerous – general and specific – human rights treaties have been adopted, to which most Council of Europe member states adhere. This chapter examines how far the scopes of human rights at the UN and the Council of Europe lev

5G DDoS Simulation, Machine Learning Models & Multi-Access Edge Computing Applications for Attack Detection and Prevention

The increasing use of 5G networks and their application in critical services makes them vulnerable to Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. This thesis investigates the detection and mitigation of DDoS attacks in 5G networks using machine learning (ML) methods. In particular, it analyses two exciting convolutional neural network (CNN)-based models: the LUCID model and the Mohak model, and

Characterisation of Single CsPbBr3 Perovskite Nanowire Devices with Ag Electrodes

Metal halide perovskites are widely researched for their optoelectronic properties and potential applications. They are made into devices by being contacted with different electrode materials. In particular, perovskite devices with silver (Ag) electrodes have been studied for their potential applications as memristors, taking advantage of Ag ion migration which can be controlled by the polarity of
