The Relationships between Sex Hormones and Sexual Function in Middle-Aged and Older European Men.

Context: Limited data are available exploring the associations between sex hormones, multiple domains of sexual functioning, and sexual function-related distress in nonpatient samples in Europe. Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate the relationships between serum testosterone (T), estradiol (E2), and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and sexual function in a multicenter population-based stu

Canonical bases for subalgebras of factor algebras

We introduce canonical bases for subalgebras of quotients of the commutative and non-commutative polynomial ring. The usual theory for Gröbner bases and its counterpart for subalgebras of polynomial rings, also called SAGBI bases, are combined to obtain a tool for computation in subalgebras of factor algebras.

Direct Numerical Simulation and Modelling Study of the Structures and Propagation of Partially Premixed Turbulent Flames

Turbulent partially premixed flames are found in common combustion applications, such as the lifted jet flames in diesel engines. There is less theory surrounding the structure and propagation of turbulent partially premixed flames than for classical premixed flames and diffusion flames, especially in regards to modelling. This thesis presents direct numerical simulations (DNS) and analysis of the

Online pronoun resolution in L2 discourse: L1 influence and general learner effects

This study investigates whether advanced second language (L2) learners of a nonnull subject language (Dutch) are influenced by their null subject first language (L1) (Turkish) in their offline and online resolution of subject pronouns in L2 discourse. To tease apart potential L1 effects from possible general L2 processing effects, we also tested a group of German L2 learners of Dutch who were pred

Ambiguous pots:Everyday practice, migration and materiality. The case of medieval Baltic ware on the island of Bornholm (Denmark)

Archaeologists routinely deal with the remains of everyday life. Yet the significance and dimensions of daily practices are rarely reflected upon. Merging Bourdieu’s theory of practice, recent theories of everyday life and the materiality approach in archaeology, this study addresses the potential importance of daily practices and mundane objects in dealing with a rupture caused by migration. As a

Robust Detection of Stochastic Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance Signals

Nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) is a solid-state radio frequency (RF) spectroscopic technique, allowing the detection of compounds containing quadrupolar nuclei, a requirement fulfilled by many high explosives and narcotics. The practical use of NQR is restricted by the inherently low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the observed signals, a problem that is further exacerbated by the presence of s

Sarah Coakley - A Symposium

The papers of the Sarah Coakley Symposium held at the Centre for Theology and Religious Studies, Lund University, on April 15th 2009 are published here. After an introduction to the symposium by the editor, the key note adress of Sarah Coakley follows: "Is there a Future for Gender and Theology? On Gender, Contemplation and the Systematic Task". Papers on the theology of Sarah Coakley are given by

Incidence of nephrogenic systemic fibrosis at a large university hospital in Sweden.

Objective. Nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) is a rare condition that may follow administration of gadolinium-based contrast media (Gd-CM) in patients with renal insufficiency. This study was initiated to determine the incidence of NSF at Skåne University Hospital, Malmö, in Sweden. Material and methods. During the period January 2001 to December 2008 10 650 patients underwent magnetic resonance

Analysis and design of a double-quadrature CMOS VCO for subharmonic mixing at Ka-band

In this paper, we analyze the potentials of a four-phase 14-GHz CMOS voltage-controlled oscillator, tailored to a sub-harmonic receiver, for signal processing at Ka-band. When mild phase accuracies between in-phase and quadrature down-converted signals are required, the four-phase oscillator displays roughly the same phase noise figure-of-merit as quadrature oscillator counterparts. However, the o

On reduced-complexity equalization based on Ungerboeck and Forney observation models

This correspondence investigates the asymptotic behavior of reduced-state ISI equalizers, based on the Ungerboeck and Forney observation models. It is shown that Ungerboeck-based equalizers can suffer from correct-path-loss (CPL) even in the noiseless regime. ISI conditions that lead to CPL are analytically derived and illustrated by examples.

How to make a workplace health promotion questionnaire process applicable, meaningful and sustainable.

How to make a workplace health promotion questionnaire process applicable, meaningful and sustainable Background In workplace health promotion, a questionnaire could be of great use. Unfortunately, fatigue regarding answering questionnaires has recently become greater than before. An action research approach could be a possible way of increasing employee participation. Aim This study reports an at
