Toward the limit of nuclear binding on the N=Z line: Spectroscopy of 96Cd
A γ-decaying isomeric state (τ1/2=197+19−17 ns) has been identified in 96Cd, which is one α particle away from the last known bound N=Z nucleus, 100Sn. Comparison of the results with shell-model calculations has allowed a tentative experimental level scheme to be deduced and the isomer to be interpreted as a medium-spin negative-parity spin trap based on the coupling of isoscalar (T=0) and isovect
Association between physical activity and risk of hepatobiliary cancers: A multinational cohort study
Background & Aims: Evidence on the association between physical activity and risk of hepatobiliary cancers is inconclusive. We examined this association in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition cohort (EPIC). Methods: We identified 275 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cases, 93 intrahepatic bile duct cancers (IHBCs), and 164 non-gallbladder extrahepatic bile duct cance

Medical teamwork and the evolution of safety science : A critical review
There is widespread consensus that teamwork constitutes one of the key requirements in today’s multidisciplinary and highly complex system of delivering care. In recent years, increasing attention has been given to questions of how to define, teach, measure, and improve teamwork in healthcare. However, one cannot help but feel a certain disconnect between this ongoing trend in healthcare with an a

C3 glomerulopathy — understanding a rare complement-driven renal disease
The C3 glomerulopathies are a group of rare kidney diseases characterized by complement dysregulation occurring in the fluid phase and in the glomerular microenvironment, which results in prominent complement C3 deposition in kidney biopsy samples. The two major subgroups of C3 glomerulopathy — dense deposit disease (DDD) and C3 glomerulonephritis (C3GN) — have overlapping clinical and pathologica
A population-based and case-controlled study of children and adolescents with narcolepsy : Health-related quality of life, adaptive behavior and parental stress
Objective: To investigate health-related quality of life (HrQoL) and adaptive behavior in young people with narcolepsy and stress among their parents. Methods: In a cross-sectional exploratory quantitative study design, 37 young people with narcolepsy (8–20 years of age) and their parents were recruited. Thirty-one had post-H1N1 vaccination-related narcolepsy (PHV) and six had narcolepsy not relat

EGLN2 DNA methylation and expression interact with HIF1A to affect survival of early-stage NSCLC
Hypoxia occurs frequently in human cancers and promotes stabilization and activation of hypoxia inducible factor (HIF). HIF-1α is specific for the hypoxia response, and its degradation mediated by three enzymes EGLN1, EGLN2 and EGLN3. Although EGLNs expression has been found to be related to prognosis of many cancers, few studies examined DNA methylation in EGLNs and its relationship to prognosis

Coordination between Lexical Tones and Melody in Traditional Kammu Singing
The study of the interaction between music and language is a small but rather active branch of musicology and linguistics. The two disciplines seldom meet. In this study we add a linguistic approach to our ethnomusicological knowledge. The cultural setting under study is Kammu, an Austroasiatic language spoken mainly in Laos. Kammu is a tone language where each syllable has a tone, either High or
