The presenters describe validation studies for a performance-based EAP certification test, the Test of Oral English Proficiency for Academic Staff (TOEPAS), designed to assess lecturers' oral proficiency for coping with the demands of English-medium instruction (EMI). Updated TOEPAS assessment criteria and a new global assessment scale will also be presented.
