The Future of Childhood Cancer Survivorship : Challenges and Opportunities for Continued Progress

As treatment evolves and the population who survive childhood cancer ages and increases in number, researchers must use novel approaches to prevent, identify and mitigate adverse effects of treatment. Future priorities include collaborative efforts to pool large cohort data to improve detection of late effects, identify late effects of novel therapies, and determine the contribution of genetic fac

Breaking out of the recursive loop with cognitive semiotics

Gasparyan sketches a semiotic theory where world, mind and language – the latter a stand-in for all semiosis – collapse into one “recursive” whole. In contrast, cognitive semiotics differentiates life-world from subject and perception from signification, as well as between different semiotic systems, of which language is only one. Four-jet double parton scattering production in proton-nucleus collisions within the pythia 8 framework

We present our studies of four-jet double parton scattering production in proton-nucleus collisions within the framework of the pythia8 event generator. We demonstrate that double absorptive processes in pA generated by the Angantyr model in pythia8 give an enhancement of the total double parton scattering cross section similar to the predictions by Strikman and Treleani in 2001. Additionally, we

Vertical InAs/InGaAsSb/GaSb Nanowire Tunnel FETs on Si with Drain Field-Plate and EOT = 1 nm Achieving Smin= 32 mV/dec and gm/ID= 100 V-1

We present vertical InAs/InGaAsSb/GaSb nanowire tunnel FETs (TFETs) on Si demonstrating subthreshold swing (S) of 32 mV/dec with ION = 4 µA/µm for IOFF = 1 nA/µm at VDS = 0.3V. The demonstrated drive currents is the highest reported for a TFET with S below 40 mV/dec resulting in a transconductance efficiency as high as 100 V-1. These results have been achieved by optimizing the source segment grow

Radial migration and vertical action in N-body simulations

We study the radial migration of stars as a function of orbital action as well as the structural properties of a large suite of N-body simulations of isolated disc galaxies. Our goal is to establish a relationship between the radial migration efficiency of stars and their vertical action. We aim to describe how that relationship depends on the relative gravitational dominance between the disc and

CLI-DOS : Collaborative Counteraction against Denial of Service in the Internet of Things

Internet of Things (IoT) is the next generation of network scenario where billions of devices are connected to the internet and capable to communicate with each other. However, they are especially vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) attack, which typically launched by overloading the server with bogus messages. Hence, unnecessary computation is performed by the IoT units, which can seriously wor

EGFR modulates complement activation in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

Background: The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is pivotal for growth of epithelial cells and is overexpressed in several epithelial cancers like head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). EGFR signalling is also involved in diverse innate immune functions in epithelia. We previously found a role for EGFR in modulating the complement system in skin, this prompted an investigation into

Ett ovälkommet hopp? : Om gästfrihet och teologisk integritet i kristen eskatologi

This article is written in the intersection of eschatology and theology of religions. It argues that apart from the well-known discussion of "Who will be saved?", there is a related question that is often overlooked. The Jewish theologian Jacob Neusner articulates this question in the following way: How can I form a theory of the other in such a way that within my own belief I can respect the othe

Attributional change and common-sense knowledge

The paper reports a study of change in causal explanations in therapeutic conversations. It shows how attribution of thoughts, feelings and behaviours which are experienced as problematic, e.g. embarrassing, awkward, absurd or painful, is changed from internal to more external. Namely, analysis focuses on how dispositional attribution – attributing problematic thoughts, feelings and behaviours to
