Gravitational encounters between a single star and a binary system can frequently occur in the cores of dense stellar systems like globular clusters. These three-body scattering encounters can lead to a variety of outcomes since the energy of the binary components can be exchanged with the interacting single star. The outcome of these interactions strongly depend on the initial conditions of the i

Thesis purpose: The purpose of this study is to gain knowledge about baby boomers’ motivations for using either digital or analogue touchpoints in the high involvement customer journey. This ultimately contributes to an increased understanding of the high involvement customer journey. Methodology: A qualitative study with social constructionism as the research philosophy, where an abductive appro

This thesis project examines the Exposure Draft issued in 2019 of the IFRS 17 - Insurance Contracts. The purpose is to determine to what extent and in which aspects the amendment is reflecting the industry. To do this the Ansari et al.’s (2010) framework will be used. In this sense, two research questions are studied: In which aspects, is IFRS 17 reflecting and covering the needs and complexity of

Background and aim: Gross primary production (GPP) is the largest global carbon (C) flux and an important component for counteracting anthropogenic CO2 emissions, understanding vegetation dynamics, and sustaining universal human standards. Africa plays a prominent role in the global C cycle, though our understanding of GPP dynamics is largely hampered by a paucity of ground-based observations. By

The aim of this paper is to cover a gap identified in the literature by finding empirical evidence explaining the relationship between the target firm’s ESG score and ESG Gap and the abnormal returns registered by the acquirer. The paper uses a cross-sectional dataset based on an international sample of 171 merger and acquisition transactions, occurred between 2002 and 2020. The even-study metho

In molecular biology and biochemistry, it is key to have large amounts of the isolated protein at hand when performing functional and structural studies. Unfortunately, the levels of an individual membrane protein in native tissues is often exceptionally low, making it challenging to purify a sufficient amount. A relatively simple and inexpensive way to get large amounts of a protein is to overexp

I dettaThe implementation of ozonation technology in sewage treatment plants is a solution that has proven efficient in removing residual pharmaceutical substances and other micropollutants to prevent their spreading in natural water bodies. The appearance of transformation products originating from micropollutants as a result of ozonation, and how well biological post treatment can remove these is a res

The vehicle industry is making great strides in electric and hybrid technologies, representing a significant step towards reducing emissions from personal vehicles. In order to make the transition to new hybrid technologies as convincing as possible, well-functioning and smooth transitions between traditional combustion engines and electric motors are required. So-called mild hybrids enable a cos

Recurrent neural networks (RNNs) have become a dominating player for processing of sequential data such as speech and audio. The reason for this, is the high accuracy that can be achieved with the more complex variants, such as the gated recurrent unit (GRU). This makes them very attractive in speech recognition systems for digital assistance and voice control applications. However, a high power c

Previous research illustrates that Muslim minorities struggle to establish themselves in the European labor market. Veiled Muslim women appear to be a particularly disadvantaged group. Research regarding veiled Muslim women’s position and situation in the Swedish labor market is almost nonexistent. This study attempted to fill this knowledge gap. The aim of the study was to examine how veiled Musl

This thesis attempts to examine the relationship between immigrant generation status and disability risk in the US. The difference in disability risk, resulting from a series of chronic health conditions, is one of the major indicators of health disparities among immigrants which contribute to persistent ethnic/racial stratification of health. Existing literature has primarily focused on the first

Automatic label placement on maps has been studied for many decades. This study has addressed the problem of automatic label placement by applying the labelling library PAL for labelling static, large scale city maps which the map company T-Kartor produces. Label placement rules were acquired from an interview with a person from the company. These rules were then applied on the labelling. The aim
