Reconstruction and visualization of equivalent currents on a radome using an integral representation formulation

In this paper an inverse source problem is investigated. The measurement set-up is a reflector antenna covered by a radome. Equivalent currents are reconstructed on a surface shaped as the radome in order to diagnose the radome's interaction with the radiated field. To tackle this inverse source problem an analysis of a full-wave integral representation, with the equivalent currents as unknowns, i

Modeling pooling and perishable items in inventory systems

This thesis is built on three papers considering different problems in inventory control. The first paper considers a two-location newsboy model with the possibility of making lateral transshipments when needed. Usually, when considering newsboy models it is assumed that all demand in a period occurs at once. In our model we divide the period into a number of sub-periods, and we assume that there

Virtual Mobilisation? Linking On-line and Off-line Political Participation among Swedish Facebook Users: Courtesy and Irritation

This paper is a pilot study where Swedish Facebook users are interviewed in virtual focus groups - one consisting of politically active participants and one consisting of not politically active participants - using Facebook itself as the platform. The interviews concerned the attitudes of the participants towards political campaigns and recruitment within Facebook. The preliminary results show tha

Reduction of co-channel interference in GSM by joint channel and data estimation

Multiuser detection is a powerful tool for combating cochannel interference in multiple-access communication systems. In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of achieving increased spectral efficiency in GSM-like TDMA networks by applying multiuser detection. Two special cases are considered: In the first scenario, two users are served simultaneously in the same cell. In the second one, two

Extreme Programming and Rational Unified Process – Contrasts or Synonyms?

The agile movement has received much attention in software engineering recently. Estab-lished methodologies try to surf on the wave and present their methodologies as being agile, among those Rational Unified Process (RUP). In order to evaluate the statements we evaluate the RUP against eXtreme Programming (XP) to find out to what extent they are similar and where they are different. We use a qual

There and Back Again - nocturnal migratory behaviour of birds during spring and autumn

This dissertation explores the migratory behaviour of nocturnally migrating passerines and common swifts (Apus apus). Birds passing Lund (southern Sweden) and Abisko (northernmost Scandinavia) where sampled using tracking radar. The aim has been to investigate potential diverging strategies between spring and autumn migration. We have found that both passerines and swifts compensate for wind drift

Incomplete phonon relaxation in X-ray emission

We calculate the phonon broadening in x-ray emission for Li, Na, Al, and K, treating the excitation and the subsequent emission as one quantum process. When the core-hole lifetime width is of the same order as the Debye energy, incomplete phonon relaxation gives a partial quenching of the Stokes shift and an additional width. This effect has previously not been seriously investigated; we find here

Dynamic optimization of a plate reactor start-up supported by Modelica-based code generation software

In this paper, start-up of a plate reactor is considered. Dynamic optimization is used to obtain start-up trajectories, and a feedback control structure for on-line control. The problem is challenging, since the process model is large and highly non-linear. In addition, the plant is subject to uncertainty. Special attention is given to the problem of formulating an optimal control problem based on
