Using a frequency-chirped ring dye laser, we have stored and recalled as much as 48 bits of information with the copropagating stimulated-echo geometry on the H-3(4)-D1(2) transition in Pr3+:YAlO3. Since the copropagating excitation scheme has all the excitation pulses spatially overlapping, this technique will be useful to the practical implementation of stimulated-echo memory because there is no

We study effects on the W mass measurements at LEP2 from non-perturbative interference effects in the fully hadronic decay channel. Based on a model for Bose-Einstein interference, which is in agreement with LEP1 data, we argue that there are no Bose-Einstein correlations between bosons coming from the different W's. For small reconnection probabilities we rule out the possible experimental signal

Popular Abstract in Swedish Avhandlingen handlar om tes av periodicitet och trend inom långminne-processer. Med hjälp av diskret wavelet transform och periodogram presenteras vi två test för periodicitet och tre test för trend. Vi utvärderar vår test samt studerar deras egenskaper delvis genom att använda oss av datorintensiva metoder såsom Monte Carlo och delvis genom att jämföra dem med andra liThis thesis presents methods of testing the periodicity and trend for the time series, which exhibit dependence over long periods of time. Many such processes can be modeled by a class of models called fractionally differenced processes. The first approach we consider to analyse such processes is by using the band periodogram, which divides the periodogram into different intervals or bands, matchi

In decerebrated, nonanesthetized cats, we made intracellular whole-cell recordings and extracellular cell-attached recordings from granule cells in the cerebellar C3 zone. Spontaneous EPSPs had large, relatively constant peak amplitudes, whereas IPSPs were small and did not appear to contribute substantially to synaptic integration at a short time scale. In many cases, the EPSPs of individual moss

(S)olving the Schrodinger equation in coordinate space with the appropriate asymptotic boundary conditions, neutron one-particle resonant levels in Y-20-deformed Woods-Saxon potentials are studied. These resonance levels are the natural extension of one-particle bound levels to the continuum and are defined in terms of eigenphase. For one-particle bound levels with Omega(pi)not equal 1/2(+) the co

A model has been formulated for the pyrolysis of wood. This model includes heat and mass transfer. Heat transfer in the material is assumed to take place by thermal conduction and convection. Mass transfer of volatile pyrolysis products and water vapour occurs under the influlence of gradients in to tal pressure. Pyrolysis is assumed to conform to an Arrheniusfunction, and vaporization occurs at a

On the basis of existing detailed kinetic schemes a general and consistent mechanism of the oxidation of hydrocarbons and the formation of higher hydrocarbons was compiled for computational studies covering the characteristic properties of a wide range of combustion processes. Computed ignition delay times of hydrocarbon -oxygen mixtures (CH4-, C2H6-, C3H8-, n-C4H10-, CH4 + C2H6-, C2H4, C3H6-O-2)

Guidelines for the treatment of risk factors in diabetes care have been updated recently, due to indisputable results from clinical end-point trials. This study evaluates risk factor control compared with current national and international targets during the period 1996-2003 in Type 2 diabetes (DM2). Patients were registered in primary-care and hospital outpatient clinics using computer software,
