Incremental dependency parsing using online learning

We describe an incremental parser that was trained to minimize cost over sentences rather than over individual parsing actions. This is an attempt to use the advantages of the two top-scoring systems in the CoNLL-X shared task. In the evaluation, we present the performance of the parser in the Multilingual task, as well as an evaluation of the contribution of bidirectional parsing and beam search

Vidare har nya be

Organizational Barriers and the Implementation of Customer Value Map Analysis: A Case Study of a Global Manufacturing Firm in the Polymer Technology Industry

Prior studies have found that firms often find it difficult to implement innovative pricing strategies, such as value-based pricing, due to the organizational barriers they face in the implementation process. This case study of a manufacturing firm’s implementation of value-based pricing through the use of customer value map analysis (CVMA) examines the effect of these organizational barriers. Key

Planar and tubular solid oxide fuel cells: A comparison of transient process behaviors

Two typical configurations of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are planar cross-flow and tubular counter-flow. Even though their performance is based on the same physical principles, their operation characteristics and parameters vary considerably due to different geometries. The goals of this paper are to detect the particularities of the cell geometries at transient operation and to identify their

Knowledge creation and sharing: a role for paraconsistent logic

Recent research and practice have led to the development of relatively complex methods for inquiry which can be applied by human analysts wishing to investigate an organizational problem-space. However, it has appeared until recently that use of these methods could not be supported by software tools, since the limitations of traditional mathematical algorithms constrained their development. In con

Evaluation and comparison of surface defects on a simplified model for the area around the fuel filler lid by simulation and experiments

There is a serious need in the automotive industry to predict surface defects in outer panels. Measures to prevent these defects can not be taken until a test part has been manufactured. This costs a lot in time and money. Within the present project stamping tools for a model part resembling the area around the fuel filler lid was developed. This is an area of the outer surface of a car, which is

Incidence and characteristics of distal radius fractures in a southern Swedish region

BACKGROUND: The incidence of distal radius fracture has increased substantially during the last 50 years according to several studies that estimated the overall incidence in various general populations. The incidence of fracture classified according to severity has not been well documented. The aim of this population-based study was to estimate the overall and type-specific incidence rates of dist

Food Webs, Models and Species Extinctions in a Stochastic Environment

In light of the current global mass extinction of species, ecologists are facing great challenges. In order to reverse the path towards additional extinctions early warning systems to guide management actions need to be developed. However, considering the countless species to monitor and the complexity of interactions affecting species abundances in ecological communities, this is not an easy task

Moral agency, moral responsibility, and artefacts

Abstract--- This paper follows directly from our forthcoming paper in International Journal of Machine Consciousness, where we discuss the requirements for an artefact to be a moral agent and conclude that the artefactual question is ultimately a red herring. As we did in the earlier paper, we take moral agency to be that condition in which an agent can, appropriately, be held responsible for her

Community Management of inland Fisheries in India and Bangladesh

Inland fisheries have the characteractics of common-pool resources such as joint consumption and subtractability of resource flows. This creates problems of management either by state authorities or private owners. In recent years, community-based fisheries management projects have become widespread in developing countries and shown considerable success. This book deals with community-based fisher
