Near-field SAR for signature and camouflage evaluation in realistic backgrounds

Outdoor ranges are commonly used for accurate RCS measurements of full scale vehicles with or without camouflage. Furthermore, ISAR processing is often used to obtain high quality imagery of the objects. However, these images do not show the vehicles in the environment where they are supposed to operate. This paper describes a ground based SAR system that is used to make accurate measurements on v

Elemental biological imaging by differential absorption with a laser-produced x-ray source

We demonstrate the novel application of hard x rays emitted by a laser-produced plasma for differential imaging of elements. An x-ray-emitting laser-produced plasma, obtained by the focusing of radiation from a 10-Hz terawatt laser, is used for biological imaging. The x-ray source can be arranged to yield characteristic x-ray emission lines with photon energies that bridge the K absorption edge of

Images and Strategies for Autonomy. Explaining Swedish Security Policy Strategies in the 19th Century

How do small states approach their security problems? What types of strategic instruments exist for small states, and when and why are certain strategies chosen rather than others? The security of `weak' states is problematic, demanding trade-offs in the decisions made. Using 19th century Swedish security policy as an example, it is argued here that small states, in their pursuit of security and a

Dosimetry and growth hormone deficiency following cranial irradiation of childhood brain tumors

Background. Dosimetry of the hypothalamus-pituitary (HP) region could allow prediction of the risk of growth hormone deficiency (GHD) following cranial irradiation. Procedure. Nineteen children (15 boys) with a median age of 6.3 years (range 1.7–16.5) at the time of irradiation of a brain tumor not involving the HP axis were followed for 1.2–6.3 years (median 3.4) from radiotherapy (RT). The dose

Aspects of the Duality between Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Theory and String Theory

Popular Abstract in Swedish Denna avhandling behandlar tre frågor med anknytning till Ads/CFT-korrespondensen. I papper I presenteras lösningar som beskriver geometrin hos fraktionella D1-bran från Typ IIB strängteori. Kopplingskonstantens energiberoende beräknas på gaugeteorisidan. I papper II används idén att den anomala dimesionen för en gaugeteorioperator kan tolkas som ett egenvärde till HThis thesis deals with three topics related to the Ads/CFT correspondence. In Paper I, solutions describing the geometry of fractional D1-branes of Type IIB string theory are presented. The running coupling constant is computed on the gauge theory side. Paper II uses the idea that the anomalous dimension of a gauge theory operator can be interpreted as an eigenvalue of a spin chain Hamiltonian.

Two loop partially quenched and finite volume chiral perturbation theory results

This talk presents some results relevant for lattice QCD at higher order in ChPT. First we discuss the finite volume corrections at two loops for the quark condensate as well as a Luscherlike finite volume formula for it. The latter allows for an alternative determination of meson sigma terms. The second set of results presented here are the calculations at two loops in partially quenched chiral p
