Micro- and nanophase separations in hierarchical self-assembly of strongly amphiphilic block copolymer-based ionic supramolecules
By a selective complexation between different alkyltrimethylammonium amphiphiles (C8, C12 and C16) and three different diblock copolymer systems of poly(styrene)-b-poly(methacrylic acid) at various grafting densities X (X = number of alkyl chains per acidic group of the poly(methacrylic acid) PMAA block), a class of ionic supramolecules are successfully synthesized whose molecular architecture con
X-Ray Phase-Contrast CT of a Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma Mouse Model
To explore the potential of grating-based x-ray phase-contrast computed tomography (CT) for preclinical research, a genetically engineered mouse model of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) was investigated. One ex-vivo mouse specimen was scanned with different grating-based phase-contrast CT imaging setups covering two different settings: i) high-resolution synchrotron radiation (SR) imaging

This is a study of the spatial structure in relation to female characters within video games with Nordic mythological themes. The understanding of space and its structure starts with an under-standing of the people who are creat-ing and constructing it. The study involves their beliefs, their social relations and their urban infrastructure and their correspondence to the Nordic mythology. When lo
Slow dynamics of wormlike micelles
We present an extensive rheology study of the wormlike micelle system lecithin-water-cyclohexane. In this system the micelles are really wormlike, meaning that there are no signs of micellar branching, as it has previously been demonstrated by NMR self-diffusion experiments (R. Angelico, U. Olsson, G. Palazzo and A. Ceglie, Phys. Rev. Lett., 1998, 81, 2823). Wormlike micelles break and recombine,
BIM Anatomy - An Investigation into Implementation Prerequisites
This thesis presents the results of an investigation into BIM implementation prerequisites emerging as a set of procedural supporting mechanisms that may enable design, construction and operating (DCO) organisations to advance their deployment of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology, and improve construction project outcomes. Today, BIM is centre-stage within the construction sector the

The article demonstrates the rise and early development of a musical folklore culture in the Lithuanian SSR during the Stalin era. Following established Soviet practice, the regime immediately after annexation in 1940 made Lithuanian folklore into its political tool. The foundation of institutions like the State Song and Dance Ensemble and the House of Folk Arts imported the main elements of the S
Measurement of the tau lepton polarisation at LEP2
A first measurement of the average polarisation P-tau of tau leptons produced in e(+)e(-) annihilation at energies significantly above the Z resonance is presented. The polarisation is determined from the kinematic spectra of tau hadronic decays. The measured value P-tau = -0.164 +/- 0.125 is consistent with the Standard Model prediction for the mean LEP energy of 197 GeV. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. A

With(out) pleasure: Desexualization, gender and sexuality at work
This article explores desexualization in massage therapy as a complex interaction between therapists and clients wherein sexual subjectivities are co-constructed, reified and in one case revised to highlight how workers can create a professional sexual identity in the spaces between desexualization and re-eroticization. Findings suggest that organizational mandates for desexualization as well as t
Coarse-grained modelling of the intrinsically disordered protein Histatin 5 in solution. Monte Carlo simulations in combination with SAXS.
Monte Carlo simulations and coarse-grained modelling have been used to analyze Histatin 5, which is an unstructured short cationic salivary peptide known to have anti-candidical properties. The calculated scattering functions have been compared with intensity curves and the distance distribution function P(r) obtained from SAXS, at both high and low salt concentrations. The aim is to achieve a mol
Optimal cepstrum estimation using multiple windows
The aim of this paper is to find a multiple window estimator that is mean square error optimal for cepstrum estimation. The estimator is compared with some known multiple window methods as well as with the parametric AR-estimator. The results show that the new estimator has high performance, especially for data with large spectral dynamics, and that it is also robust against parameter choices. Sim

Carboxylation of pincer PCP platinum methoxide complexes under formation of metalla carbonates
The ligand 2,6-bis[(diphenylphosphino)methyl]benzene ((PCP)H) was prepared and characterised in an improved manner. With platinum it forms the complex (PCP)PtOTf which reacts with sodium methoxide to give (PCP)PtOMe as the major product together with a small amount of [(PCP)Pt](2)-mu-H. The platinum methoxide reacts with carbon dioxide to give (PCP)PtO(CO)OMe. Also the dinuclear [(PCP)Pt](2)(mu-O(

Modulation of allergen-induced bronchoconstriction by fluticasone furoate and vilanterol alone or in combination
BackgroundThis placebo-controlled study assessed the effects of the once-daily inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) fluticasone furoate (FF) and long-acting beta(2)-agonist (LABA) vilanterol (VI) on early and late asthmatic responses (EAR/LAR) and airway hyper-responsiveness (AHR). MethodsPatients (n=27) were randomized to FF (100g), VI (25g), FF/VI (100/25g), and placebo for 21days (four periods). Allerg

Dissemination of Thrombolysis for Acute Ischemic Stroke Across a Nation. Experiences From the Swedish Stroke Register, 2003 to 2008.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: We used Riks-Stroke, the Swedish Stroke Register, to explore how thrombolysis has been disseminated in Swedish hospitals since it was approved in 2003. METHODS: All 78 hospitals in Sweden admitting patients with acute stroke participate in Riks-Stroke. Between 2003 and 2008, 72 033 adult patients were hospitalized for acute ischemic stroke. We analyzed thrombolysis use by r

Development and application of sedimentary pigments for assessing effects of climatic and environmental changes on subarctic lakes in northern Sweden
A surface-sediment survey of pigments in 100 lakes in the Scandes Mountains, northern Sweden, was combined with a reconstruction of Holocene sedimentary pigments from Lake Seukokjaure to assess the major factors regulating phototrophic communities, and how these controls may have changed during the period from the deglaciation (similar to 9700 cal. years BP) to the present. The study area covers a
