In my research, I am primarily interested in religious diversity and its implications for contemporary European states and societies.
Over the last few decades, the religious landscape in Europe changed significantly due to factors ranging from migration and globalization to the development of new religious and non-religious movements. Such change demands the development of new solutions and innovative policies within the law, education or spatial design to allow for coexistence in religiously diverse societies. To support the development of specific solutions, I am studying when and why diversity results in disagreements and conflicts, and whether and when they can be transformed into a constructive force.
In my dissertation project, I study the emergence and functioning of the so-called "multi-faith paradigm" in Europe. I am also involved in projects concerning European studies, migration, social ethics, religious literacy, law & religion, and artificial personhood.
