Anders Ackfeldt (M.A. in Islamology) has been employed in various administrative positions at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies in Lund since 2007. Since the fall of 2011 he pursues a Ph.D. in Islamology at the Center for Theology and Religious Studies at Lund University.


About the research

Anders academic interest areas are mainly current Muslim debates on Islam and music, with a focus on popular culture and African-American Islam. He has done field work among Muslim hip-hop youth in Istanbul, and among the Nation of Gods and Earths in New York. He has taught several courses in Middle Eastern Studies, Human Rights Studies, Islamology and European Studies. 

Anders has a passion for commissioned education, capacity building and cooperation’s with organizations and companies outside the academic world. He has been involved in projects with, for example, The Swedish Board of Migration, Institut du Monde Arabe, The Swedish Prison and Probation Service, and the National Coordinator Against Violent Extremism.

He currently works as a teachers and researcher at Lund University.
