The Global Scholarship

The Global Scholarship for the Study of the Interaction between Judaism, Christianity and Islam in History and Today

The Scholarship supports academically outstanding students from outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, and North America who have been admitted to the Master’s Programme Religious Roots of Europe and who would otherwise be unable to meet the costs of tuition and living expenses in Sweden.

About the Programme

The Master’s Programme Religious Roots of Europe (RRE) offers an advanced academic study of the formative histories of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, with particular emphasis on their interactions, shared traditions, and historical development. By examining these traditions in their historical contexts, the programme also provides perspectives relevant to understanding religious encounters and relations in the contemporary world.

Established nearly twenty years ago, RRE has welcomed students from across the world and has a strong record of preparing graduates for further academic study, including doctoral research.

The programme is an international collaboration between leading Scandinavian universities, namely the University of Copenhagen, Lund University, and the University of Oslo. Its distinctive format combines local tutorials and online teaching with compact seminars and study excursions, offering students access to an international academic community and scholarly networks across the Nordic region.

The Scholarship

The Global Scholarship for the Study of the Interaction between Judaism, Christianity and Islam in History and Today is intended to broaden access to the programme for highly qualified students who would otherwise lack the financial means to pursue their studies in Sweden.

  • have a solid academic background in fields relevant to the programme,
  • have training in ancient or classical languages relevant to their proposed studies,
  • particularly Greek, Latin, Hebrew, or Arabic, and
  • demonstrate a particular scholarly interest in the historical interaction between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
