Brands Mobilising Sustainable Consumption by Craft

The aim of this study was to gain a nuanced understanding of how craft-oriented brands mobilise consumers to slow down fashion consumption. A qualitative, multiple case study was conducted with three case companies: Fæbrik, FabPatch and Nudie Jeans, applying methods such as expert interviews and complementary online observation. In the analysis three themes were identified (Personalisation, Involv

Supply Chain Management: Increasing Performance and Coordination in a Sales & Operations Planning Context

Alfa Laval’s business unit Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger uses Sales and Operations Planning to balance supply with demand to ensure profitable growth. Currently, the business unit is experiencing inefficiencies as they fail to execute the plans from Sales and Operations Planning. Large inventories, high obsolescence, material availability, and “firefighting” are some problems mentioned. To support

The Hidden Effects of Inflation. An Examination of Bracket Creep and its Implications for the Income Tax: Evidence for Spain (1979-1987)

This paper examines the impact of inflation on the income tax in Spain from 1979 to 1987. By introducing a new approach using dynamic microsimulation and the Elasticity of Taxable Income (ETI), we analyze three dimensions of the tax: revenue, progressivity, and redistribution. The microsimulation reveals that the lack of adjustment of the income tax to inflation: 1) accounts for 44% of the increas

The 1991 liberalization and economic growth in India

This text discusses the impact of economic liberalization in India in 1991. The aim of this study is to investigate how the 1991 reforms, which increased foreign investments and entrepreneurship, contributed to economic growth. The paper provides a detailed background of the socialist Indian scenario prior to 1991 and highlights the changes that occurred with the liberalization policies and their

Building Bridges to Success: Analysing the Strength of Ties in Entrepreneurial Networks and their Contribution to Resource Mobilisation for New Ventures - A multi-case study within the Netherlands and Sweden

This thesis examines the complex relationship between networking and resource mobilisation in the context of entrepreneurship. The study investigates the extent to which different types of ties, namely strong, weak and new ties, contribute to an entrepreneur's ability to acquire resources. This qualitative study employed semi-structured interviews with eight founders in Sweden and the Netherla

Canada’s Approach to Idealistic Public Diplomacy: Projecting Values Through Strategic Narratives

In the 21st century, soft power is at the heart of public diplomacy. For political players to exert influence on the global stage, strategic narratives allow for indispensable opportunities to increase foreign support to achieve national and international agendas. This is especially beneficial for small and middle-power states to leverage soft power through public diplomacy initiatives to capture

Evaluation of Ferroelectric Tunnel Junction memristor for in-memory computation in real world use cases

Machine learning algorithms are experiencing unprecedented attention, but their inherent computational complexity leads to high energy consumption. However, a paradigm shift in computing methods has the potential to address the issue. This shift could be a move towards analog in-memory computing, a method which uses Ohm’s and Kirchhoff’s Laws, and carries out the processing directly where data res

Brand Archeology - Identifying Pivotal Moments Shaping the Brand Today

Title: Brand Archaeology - Identifying Pivotal Moments Shaping the Brand Today Date of Submission: 2023-05-31 Course: BUSN39 Degree Project in Global Marketing Authors: Herman Vähäkangas & Kevin Blomkvist Supervisor: Mats Urde Keywords: Brand archaeology, pivotal moments, brand identity, corporate branding, excavation, artifacts. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to discover pivotal

The Higgs Width in Higgs production in association with a W+ boson

The width of the Higgs boson is a quantity that cannot be measured directly from the on-shell Higgs peak; it would have to be measured indirectly. In 2013, Caola and Melnikov developed a method to determine the Higgs width by using off-shell and on-shell cross-sections and applying the narrow-width approximation. In this thesis, we will use the indirect method of finding the Higgs width for the pr

Simulation of Quantum Cascade Lasers

This thesis aimed to contribute to the improvement of Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs) by focusing on the effective determination of quantum levels in these devices. The current method relies on an outdated Fortran code, which poses challenges when integrating into optimization schemes. To address this issue, the thesis proposed the development of an improved version of the code using Python, thus en

Assessing the Efficiency of COLMAP, DROID-SLAM, and NeRF-SLAM in 3D Road Scene Reconstruction

As 3D reconstruction pipelines now can run in real-time, this has opened up new possibilities for teams developing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which rely on the camera system of the vehicle to enhance the safety and driving experience. This thesis pres

Electron-skyrmion systems, in and out of equilibrium, and isolated or contacted to reservoirs

A Kondo lattice skyrmion model in contact with a macroscopic environment is simulated to explore skyrmion dynamics, which is an extension of previous work. The system is simulated using non-equilibrium Green's functions within the generalized Kadanoff-Baym ansatz and the wide band limit. To get a time-linear scaling, we present an approximation to the collision integral, which offers a good tr

Water use efficiency in agricultural irrigation in Egypt: A qualitative study on the complexities of utilising fossil groundwater resources in the face of water scarcity

This study examines the adaptive capacity of desert farming in Egypt to imminent water scarcity and discusses the sustainability of fossil groundwater extraction. Through qualitative semi-structured expert interviews, the study identifies clear research and data gaps related to the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System (NSAS) and highlights the need for a nuanced approach to fossil groundwater extractio
